Cats going into cattery over Xmas

DP and I are going abroad for 2 weeks over Xmas. We debated for months what to do with our two 10 month old kittens as we've never left them since we got them aged 15 weeks. We decided not to get a catsitter it's a long time for them to be on their own in the house, we also didn't like the idea of having a random house sitter to stay. So we opted to book them into a cattery, but now the time to drop them off is nearly here I'm such a wreck.

The cats have both slept on our bed every single night since they were tiny, one of them even has to fall asleep on me most evenings or else she won't settle down for the night Blush Her brother is just as attached and follows me around constantly. I can't bear the thought of leaving them for 2 weeks, I will miss them terribly and hate the thought of them thinking I've abandoned them. To top it all off, there's a 40 min drive to the cattery and I know they'll cry all the way there.

I guess I just wondered if anyone else felt just as bad about leaving their cats when they go away. Please reassure me it will be OK. The cattery looks great so rationally I know they'll be looked after, I just feel so sad that they won't have me around and vice versa Confused

I'm home but can't pick the girls up till Saturday as my shifts were changed. The house is so empty without them.

All four are beautiful cats, but I really like Magic.
(I assume he's the black one, cheddar seems more like your ginger kitty.)

My DD volunteers at our local cattery, she has been working over Xmas. The care and attention they give the cats is amazing. Yes, some of cats will be a bit scared at first, but they all settle down, and by the end of their stay will all be purring and rubbing when the girls come down to their pens.

Except one...... apparently there is one bastard cat, who comes in a lot, and they have to wear heavy gloves to clean and feed it..... BUT in the main, all the others are lovely and content.

Lol @ bastard cat... hopefully neither of mine are being little terrors!

The cattery have sent us a few pictures through, GirlCat (grey tabby) looks like she's having a ball. BoyCat (brown tabby) still looks a bit nervous, he's the baby of the two (he was the runt and is such a mummy's boy). Hope he's getting on ok...!

My two have just come home with a bag full of presents! They were not pleased to see me. Cheddar jumped out of her carrier and tried to get back into her castle. They take such good care of them though. And it's lovely to know they are genuinely loved.

Just collected them today and they seem fine. When I got them back home they sniffed every inch of the garden and then rolled around in the flowerbeds meowing (presumably marking their territory? Or maybe they're just nuts Grin).

Now in bed with Boycat snuggled up with me Grin So glad to see them again!
