Microchip cat flap

We're getting a new back door soon, and having a cat flap put into the glass at the time it's made.

We just have a normal cat flap right now, but I'd like to get a microchip flap as we're going to the effort of putting it in glass just in case a new cat appears in the neighbourhood that might decide to come into our house.

My husband's concern is how quickly does it release? There is one local cat that is a bit of a bully, it chases our cat, and she escapes by running quickly through the cat flap. Does a microchip one take long to open?
We're concerned that if she's running away, she might bang her head if it's a bit too slow.

We have one , our cats arrived in May , they started going out in July . They hadn't used one before (they were in CPL foster homes before )

The catflap does quite a loud "click" that they get used to and they know they can open .
It is instant , my two often come bombing up the garden and hurtle through , no problems .

It is a great reassurance for us to know that only our cats can come in.

The only issues we've had -
when we lock them in, we have to put something in front of the door otherwise they keep going up and activating the release (but cannot get out because its locked)
Which meant the battery wore out by October !

And they sit either side of it , cannot go out or in because their lardy sibling in is the way but the release keeps "click/click/click" (Good job we love these fur coated muppets Grin )

If it’s working properly they should unlock at a range of 24 cm. so hopefully no head banging.

My cat runs at it at an amazing pace and it always opens. She explodes through it some days, I am always amazed it opens on time😂

I have a sureflap which links to my phone. It is amazing, I can monitor her coming and goings where ever I am. It tells me how long she spends outside every day and I can see her patterns. Well worth the extra money.
