Which sex kitten?

I have two adult cats - one male, one female. The male is extremely laidback, the female is more dominant but still very chilled. They are friendly dudes and hang out happily with our house rabbits.

We want to get a kitten in spring - would you get a boy, or girl? I am aware of the territorial sensitivities around adding a new cat and wondered if there was an easier combo - two boys and a girl, or two girls and a boy? I'm leaning toward getting another male.

I've found male cats to be more friendly in general. Have always had cats and the boys are just so much nicer in my opinion.

It sounds like both your cats are very happy at the moment. What if one or both don’t take to the kitten? What will you do? I reckon you should think about this before making the decision. I adopted a stray kitten and tried very hard to get my two cats to accept her. It didn’t work and I had to find another home for her. Just a warning because it might not pan out how you expect

bad idea really. its not about the sex of the kitten, it won't work out well either way.

your cats are currently chilled and happy because they have a good balance of having their needs met. a new kitten - especially a solo one who will desperately need a playmate and will make a pain of itself more than half the time, is a huge stress to introduce for your adult cats. it is not a reasonable thing to do.

I agree. Having two cats that are happy together is like hitting the jackpot. But introducing a kitten could really upset their tranquility. Please think about this. Kittens are hard work
