Credelio oral flea treatment - any experiences?

I have two lovely but quite nervous rescue cats and one of them in particular absolutely hates having her spot-on monthly flea treatment. She gets really panicky and frightened when picked up and finds the whole experience quite traumatic. It's also very hard to catch her when she knows it's coming!

I mentioned this to the vet who has recommended trying an oral pill called Credelio as an alternative. She swallows her worming tablets quite happily when combined with the Easy Pill putty you can get.

However, having had a quick google of Credelio I found this link: www.consumeraffairs.com/news/fda-warns-consumers-about-certain-flea-and-tick-medications-for-pets-092118.html

It's got me really worrying about whether these oral flea treatments are safe. Has anyone else used them on MN?

Not this brand but one of mine is on Comfortis because she gets so distressed by Advocate. I had read some scary things too so I spoke to the vet and I even phoned the drug helpline and spoke to a vet there who told me that she uses it on her cats which made me feel better. I’ve given a monthly dose this morning which is always traumatic for all involved but once it’s in she’s fine, whereas with Advocate she would be distressed for ages afterwards. You will also need to use an oral wormer - we use Bravecto.

One of ours gets upset by Advocate - what is it that does that?

I’ve been using it monthly since March. No fleas and it’s easy to use. Most cats eat the tablet happily, mine doesn’t. It smells of vanilla to me. My vet recommended it and said she uses it on her cats.

Thanks for the replies and reassurance. My cats are now two months in to using this - it’s definitely much easier to administer than the spot-on. I’m just hoping that it proves as effective!

I changed it after speaking to my vet in January. As my cat wasn’t eating it willingly and I was having to get him to swallow it monthly which was traumatic for both of us. We’ve changed to bravecto. Which is a spot on 3 monthly treatment. But the credelio didn’t cause any issues for my cat.
