Has anyone toilet trained their cat

As in to use the actual toilet.

I saw a kit for sale on amazon which is an amazing idea. And I thought of all the time and money I’d save not having to empty litter trays.

If anyone has done it does the cat have accurate aim once trained? I don’t want to come home to find crap on the back of the loo seat, etc.

Main thing which puts me off is having to have the weird kit thing on the loo during the training time....we only have one loo in the house so I can’t sacrifice a toilet just for the cat!

I have a vague recollection of someone on here managing it yes.

Took her a while but I agree it’s better than trays if you can manage it.

I didn't but she goes outside like a dog with no indoor litter tray. We get up in the morning and let her out, she does her business in our garden and comes back inside. Like a dog she is perfectly able to hold it over night.

She did do a poop in the bath plug hole once when she was stuck in all day long and we couldn't get back to her for a while. She obviously wanted to do it where it could be easily disposed so I bet she would probably toilet train if we tried.

I have a house cat so it’s trays or toilet. Dd is worried the house smells of cat wee and we’ve gone nose blind.

I'm not sure i agree with cats using the toilet. What happens when it eventually gets old and less agile? It won't be able to jump up. Also cats toilets tell you a lot about the cats health. For example cystitis and blood in urine. Once its down the toilet its gone. Appreciate if it's an out door cat you wouldn't see that anyway but its handy to have a box just in case.
