Cat anxiety

Hello, I have an 18 month old cat who we got as a rescue cat about 7 months ago. She is a lovely girl - so friendly and sweet. I've always thought she is a bit on the anxious side - she grooms a LOT (not my first cat, and this seems more than any other cat I've met), and she spooks easily (always tearing in the cat flap in a panic). But lately she seems to have had a ramp up in anxiety. She has always meowed very worriedly if I am in the bathroom and she can't see me, but now she is starting to have these periods several times a day when she just meows frantically, running from room to room, and can't seem to calm herself. She will relax if I am literally sitting with my hand on her and talking to her. She is also scratching a lot although she's regularly de-fleaed.

DCat goes outside, and doesn't get on too well with the neighbour cats so I wonder if something has happened out there which has knocked her confidence. Has anyone else come across this? Any suggestions for making her feel better? I have ordered some feliway, so will see if that helps. Thanks!

Have you tried one of those Feliway cat plug in things? They release a scent that helps cats stay calm and happy.

Our cat got anxious when we had a noisy demolition going on nearby. I got her a cat calming supplement that I added to her food. It worked quite well.

I found pet remedy more effective than deli way and they have a whole range of stuff that might help. Zyklene worked a treat with my parents very highly strung cat.
