Hello, has anyone noticed their cats becoming suddenly very lazy these past few days? My two are out all the time generally but have definitely slowed down

Have you switched the heating on?

When I was a child, our cat used to sleep on the landing.

We couldn't work out what was going on, as the larger radiator was downstairs.

The pipes from the boiler ran under the landing floorboards, so when the heat and hot water were on, the floor where she slept was toastie warm 24/7.

Heating has been on since the end of September. She tends to snooze in the hallway opposite the radiator on a —one of many— comfy area we have put down for her. Also now moved the litter tray downstairs (can’t wait for my under stairs cupboard to be sorted, that’ll be a quiet cubby hole for it then) to make everything easier for her.
Starting her on Metacalm and looking to get some glucosamine/ condroitin for her (if she’ll take it).......have to make sure that we have plants of chicken, beef and ‘naice’ ham for her to make sure she takes her meds!!!

Winter has definitely arrived. Competing for lap space

Grumpy - I see that Sybil is winning ... as it should be.

Still room for TC though :)

Going to try to upload pics of madam on the radiator.

Oh yes dcat has def moved into power-saving mode. I put her outside for a couple of hours late afternoon or else she’s a pain in the bum come late evening.

She has her annual check and jabs at the vet in Feb and she’s always at her chubbiest then. If it was in August she’d be very slender. I must watch what she’s eating this winter as I don’t generally adjust the quantities she has even though she’s doing sweet FA for several months Blush

My girl usually spends hours out in the evening but now wants to come straight in. It's now all about duvet days.

Foslady · 14/11/2019 10:10

Well the meds have kicked in wonderfully - back to being her usual PITA! Not sure that she’s happy being in one room at night but she’s not too grumpy when we go down in the morning

I have an 18 month old whose full of life, been running around like crazy, squeezing down the side of the tv cabinet and pulling cables out and jumping on high worktops and the boiler still. His brother has been under the weather (ABs and painkillers on Monday). He's a lot more chilled generally but is tryig to sleep while it's pouring outside (hopefully due to the weather and not being ill).

LustigLustig · 15/11/2019 10:44

Mine is responding to the wintry weather by going on a killing spree! We have had two pigeons and a rat just this week.
Is he stockpiling for winter? Or is the wet weather making hunting easier for him?
He isn't usually a prolific hunter at all, i'd say he brings something in only about every 3 months. (Of course, in nice weather he may just eat them outside...Hmm

I'm glad to read this thread as we're first-time cat owners and our 4 year old is hardly out at all these days - much prefers snoozing in front of the fire whenever it's on!

sashh · 16/11/2019 03:40

When you say 'the fire' you actually mean kitty's fire that I am allowed to control don't you?

Nonstopbuttmachine · 21/11/2019 19:43

It's just turned chilly at night where I live; the dcats are now piling on my bed desperate for snuggles but apparently 3.30am is the time when they get too hot and start a full-on MMA unarmed combat fight-to-the-death challenge Hmm

I actually can't wait until it gets really cold and #snugglewars begin 😹
