Moving house

My 2 cats are 5 and 7 years old and I'm moving tomorrow. Does anyone have any tips for the move or the few weeks after? I'm in the country now and it's very quiet with free access to little wildlife presents. However unfortunately I'm moving to a built up area on a busy road and no access to wildlife. Would they adjust to being indoor cats? I will have a back garden but it's more of a yard (no grass) but there's a tree. Not sure where they will Poo if I let them out. I'm worried about them running away :(

Keep them in for at least 2 weeks. Can you get some spec fencing to cat proof the yard?

Hi Sadvillage,
If they are used to living in a quiet country area and you are relocating to a busy city, I would be concerned about traffic. They will probably have zero experience of a busy road so it would be better to try and keep them inside. The vet told me that you should keep cats inside for a minimum of two weeks to stop them getting lost. You could get cat trees, baskets, toys etc and try to keep them as indoor cats from when you move because it sounds like you are going into a more dangerous environment especially given proximity to a busy road.

Thankyou both. They are extremely lazy and I'm sure the 'presents' are by luck rather than active hunting! They both sleep around 20 hours a day so hopefully they will be ok indoors.
