I’ve tried keeping her in one room and she just goes crazy. Same in a cage.

Any advice?

Haribo was castrated a week ago. Not at all sleepy in the evening, more of a nutter than usual but he didn't have stitches. I think it may have been the drugs he had.

RolytheRhino · 04/11/2019 19:42

Let her? Maybe she's been a bit traumatized by the whole process. I'd just leave her be and make sure she has a quiet corner of her own to retreat to where you won't bother her.

Cats generally don't calm down when put in cages.

Grumblina · 04/11/2019 19:46

She’s hidden in the wardrobe and is away to sleep now. I obviously won’t be letting her out but surely it’s more traumatic trapping her in a room

So don't trap her? I'm not sure I understand what you mean.

Elieza · 04/11/2019 20:10

You won’t be letting her out of what, the wardrobe!?
It’s probably the pain meds. Mine was mental for 24 hours. Her eyes were like saucers and she wouldn’t sit for more than a few minutes. Then she was fine the next day when the jags wore off.

Grumblina · 04/11/2019 20:10

All aftercare advice says to keep them in a room with nothing to jump or climb on

Letting her outside

Well, leave her where she is for now. I daresay she'll have a good sleep and feel better afterwards.

Gingaaarghpussy · 04/11/2019 20:34

I couldn't keep the cone of shame on my cat, never mind the extra energy.Grin

Grumblina · 04/11/2019 21:48

I’ve had to put a medical vest on her as she’s pulling her bloody stitches. She’s not happy at all

Baby grow xxx

Grumblina · 04/11/2019 22:12

@Welshcake2019 have you done this before? It’s calmed her down anyway she’s lying on the floor refusing to move

WelshCake2019 · 04/11/2019 22:14

No actually! 😂 Just remember reading it somewhere...best Google it to read up on it yourself though!

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/11/2019 22:15

It’s the ketamine, it makes them fearless. She’ll crash eventually.

minou123 · 04/11/2019 22:17

I put a baby grow on my kitten! Grin

She wouldn't wear the cone-of-shame and she jumped, clumped, leapt everywhere. She will settle down. I wouldn't let her outside, but let her around the house.

Grumblina · 04/11/2019 22:26

I’m pleased I’m not the only one who’s had this problem 😬. I’ve had cats all my life but this one is the naughtiest kitten I’ve ever known. I knew she wouldn’t leave the stitches that’s why I got the vest in preparation. I’m just going to allow her to roam the house as normal and keep checking wound

I've managed to find a photo. Grin
She didnt love it, to be honest. Blush

Aww look at her bless her. Did she take a while to get used to it?

Grumblina Naughtiest kitten - I give you Haribo. Chooses not to listen to the word no, food obsessed, snatches at titbits like a velociraptor and was licking a soft boiled egg which was still whole but he's adorable.

minou123 · 04/11/2019 23:28

Yeah, it took about 2 days to stop her pulling it off. You have to leave the bum uncovered, so that made it easy for her to wriggle out of it.
She looked Houdini getting out of his straight jacketSmile

I have 2 cats, and the male is the naughtiest. I just found out this week that he has been going round the neighbours, giving them the "I'm a poor soul, please feed me look" - and they have!
He is bigger than most chihuahuas, so his hustle is bloody good!

Grumblina · 05/11/2019 15:55

Yep she got out of it even with the poppers fastened!!! I have 2 boys aswell and they are massive would actually be amusing to put them in vests. I have a feeling they also visit neighbours Grin

crimsonlake · 05/11/2019 20:29

Yes it is the ketamine, my vet confirmed this at the post op visit. Why on earth they do not warn you...Mine is the worst behaved kitten I have ever had and recently after being speyed she was rampaging around the house until I fell asleep after 2 am.
I was told to keep her quiet for a few days, all hell started breaking loose after a couple of hours, there was no stopping her.
She wore a collar for all of 2 mins when I brought her home. Luckily despite her daredevil antics she has never even noticed the stitches, she is too busy playing.

Elieza · 05/11/2019 22:03

She’s gorgeous, bless her! Grin

bonzo77 · 05/11/2019 22:18

Ugh. Mine did this. Opened the stitches. She went back and I think they glued her. She had the lamp shade too but got it off very easily. I put it on tighter and she got her lower jaw snagged in it and panicked. That was over 9 years ago.
