Upset tummy after Cattery stay.

Hi all,

Fluffy Dave went to stay at a lovely Cattery for a week last week, when I picked her up yesterday the Cattery lady said that she's had a loose movement but it had cleared up quickly, when we got her home she wolfed down a wet pouch and half a bowl of biscuits in minutes. (Concept for Life - Maine Coon Kitten)

She had a normal poo last night and was her usual bouncy self.

This afternoon however she had been sick and had a runny poo. She seems a bit quiet as well.

Could this be down to stress or a change in food back to her usual one? When would you take a poorly kitten to the vet?

She's 5 and a half months and weighs a good 3kg.

It could well be stress, if she’s no better I’d take her in.

My poor little lady. Just found another patch of sick. She was fine this morning, cuddly and purry and happy. She's dozing on my lap now and not even her special scratchy spot can elicit a purr.

This is my first cat, first pet (apart from fish), when is it appropriate to call the emergency vets number? Will she be ok overnight or does d+v count as an emergency in cats?

Ohhhhh! I think she's been at the fish food! Just noticed that the automatic feeder has been knocked off the fish tank and the amount of spilled algae wafer does not add up to the amount that should have spilled out.

A quick google tells me she should be fine, but may have an upset tummy.

Anyone have any experience of this?

She's definitely got tummy ache, she's sleeping all crouched up when she usually sleeps all laid out.

First picture is her just now, second is about midday today.

Oh dear, I hope it tasted good poor cat!

I think she's feeling better now, certainly purring again and bopping me for cuddles and strokes.

Will keep an eye and take her to the vets tomorrow if her tummy doesn't settle.

How is she s today?

Toddlerteaplease · 04/11/2019 10:38

Ps. Is she really called Fluffy Dave. Brilliant name for a girl cat!

A cat I grew up with (not mine and also not very bright) once ate a lot of fish food and had to go to the vet for a stomach pump. This was because fish food swells as it encounters moisture and also has a tendency to clump and produce dehydration (I believe, I was only little at the time so may not have remembered this clearly). In any case, the cat was fine, although dignity was definitely wounded. Dumb animal - lucky it was the most adorable beast in the world!

Fluffy Dave is a cutie! ❤️🐾

She seems fine today, was meowing about 7am for food (I only left dry food out for her overnight) and she has been running around and playing all morning. She's crashed out on my tummy at the moment all stretched out like she usually is.

She's really called Astrid, but Fluffy Dave was DS's choice of name and it's stuck as a nickname, as has Fluffy Bum, Fluffster and Floofy Cat.
