What makes your cat Quirky

Bit of Backstory....
I adopted my cat in 2017 from Cat's Protection when she was about a year old, She came to me completely terrified of any human interaction and didn't seem to know how to be stroked or picked up without it causing her panic Sad so the day after she moved in i made her a nest on top of the wardrobe with her things she came with for familiarity and left her to it thinking she'd come round eventually and come to me when she was ready....well... Fast forward to today and she is a different cat entirely !! She is currently asleep on my feet under the duvet cuddling my sock Hmm She enjoys taking showers with me once a month (as in she will sit at my feet under the water and wait to be shampooed!! loves it) and will only drink from a running tap or the toilet.... Envy and she has developed a voice and a sense she owns this place now as she walks around yowling to me when she wants something Grin which 9/10 she gets. This morning she knocked her brush off the side and rolled onto her belly as if to say "tummy rubs plzzz" I still can't believe this is the same cat i adopted back then and how far she has come from that scared kitty who hated people and didn't know how to do anything but hide to a cat who will run upto people as they walk in and greet them Confused I'm sure i have a dog not a cat some day's.
She's still a very independent little lady who hates been picked up and cuddles are entirely on her terms (most things around here are now on her terms) But she is the funniest little creature I've ever owned and I'd be lost without her Blush
Anyone else got a cat that doesn't behave entirely like a cat ?

Mine cannot purr. Sort of purr-breathes.
Also meows like a squeaky toy. Opens mouth and some time later a small squeak comes out.
Tiny head, but weighs 6kg, with large paws and incredibly long body. Grin
Best mouser in the business, but sadly this also extends to pigeons, birds of all sizes and once (horribly) a squirrel.
Obsessed with ear wax. Confused
Will not sit on laps, only if you're sitting on the loo and pick him up and then he's confused and settles down.
General lack of awareness of him being smaller than humans, takes up a lot of space, I trip over him daily.
Ignores water unless it's in a glass.
Knows lots of words and hand signals but ignores these when it suits him.
He's a rescue and I'd love to know how much is nature and/or nurture!

My dcats love vegetables. Peas, broccoli, sweetcorn, carrots, cauliflower..
Steal off dc's plate until they are supplied with their own portion!!

When he wants a cuddle he will meow at you until you bend down, then he stand on his back legs with his front legs in the air, so you can pick him up easier. (Like a child)

Cheddar does this. It's adorable!

One of ours will rub his face against a human's face as affection. However, he has no sense of speed or weight, so when he hears someone sit on the sofa he thunders through the house, leaps onto the seated human and headbutts them under the chin hard enough to make teeth clack.

The other cat waits until you sit on the loo. We have to keep our pants around our knees, because if she sees pants around ankles she gets into them. She particularly likes to curl up in a warm trouser leg.

stupid quirky cats.

Socks the kitten has a quirky choice in toys.
Her favourites are a pink peg, her own (unusually long) tail, and a very manky bit of potato that I’d thrown in the general direction of the bin. She found it and carried it around in her mouth, patted it and stalked it for days.
She also likes licking my hands when she’s on the bed next to me at night. I really don’t like being licked so I have to put my hands under the covers.
She was such a timid little thing when we first had her and it’s great to see her gaining in confidence and playing with big brother Matt.

My BSH cat shambled around her (quite a lot of) foster homes; fat, miserable, incontinent and shy. She’s been on a diet, allowed outside, played with, cuddled, and sleeps on my feet every night. I got her from CPL. Strangely, she had not aged one iota, although now lissom, house trained and agile, she still looks exactly like the pic on her adoption site - truculent. Sort of Dorian Grey kitty, 8 years later.

"Why have you locked me in your teenage son's bedroom? I'm a prisoner here . I'm under siege and I don't like it . Once I get out , I am so going for your knife drawer "

We had to shut our two in DS room while DH went in the loft , no way did we want them loose up there .

Our female cat won't accept a locked door . They are illegal in her eyes . She is in the pantry before we know she's even there are squawks in protest when we lift her out .

IRL she's a lovely , confident , bolshy little cat . Her brother is shy but improving immensely , he loves DD .
But in this photo, I would think twice before I cuddled her Grin

Love this thread, cats are so funny!

Mine has some quirks that have already been mentioned, she can't hunt for toffee - even flies or insects are beyond her. The garden birds appear to mock her frequently.

She also becomes much more affectionate when the food bowl is almost empty.

The quirkiest thing about her is her reaction to my dd when my dd is upset. She becomes very agitated and tries to nibble her. She often looks at me as if to say what have you done to upset her!!

Magic sounds like a fully grown adult walking round the upstairs of her house. And sounds like a heard of elephants coming down stairs. I have absolutely no idea how she does it. She only weighs 4.3kg.
