Luckily I m not a girly girl but my female cat Ellie age 2 and a half keeps bringing in live mice (daughter seriously unimpressed).
Its about once a week when its raining. She brings them in and lets them go. My son caught and released the last poor thing.
She s always called in at night and doesn't go far luckily.
Does anyone else have these hunting nights?
She s let it go now and tucking into her whiskas treats.
I like mice but dont want a houseful Grin

It's a cat thing more than a seasonal thing, One of mine would never bother to chase anything and the other never stopped getting lucky, it was relentless. I became very good at several types of coup de grace and still can pick up any unidentified animal/bird 'bit' without flapping my hands and going "eeeee nnnnoooooo ugh ugh ohhoooo" for a few minutes like I used to.

One of mine is a very successful hunter, that nevertheless just brings home live creatures and releases them. If the other girl is in the room, she's usually pounced and killed it before you have chance to blink. Most of the time I just rely on my extensive practice at catching them. And pondering wtf I'm doing at midnight in the garden stood over a mouse until it gets its bearings.

As she always proudly brings you the new pet, we've never had any problems knowing where they are. Barring the occasion I was ill and woke to find myself in the animals of farthing wood.
