Cat acne

Hello!
I'm new to the cat forum, this is my lovely cat Mooshie!
She has had cat acne on her chin since we got her at 1 year old (now 3) and it is getting worse.
Has anyone actually managed to get rid of it?
I've tried hibiscrub and the acne wipes (clearasil or something) and they help, but it's never gone.
Not helped by the fact she has a white chin!

Don’t use human products on cats to start.

Has she seen a vet? What do they recommend?

Ps I have selected a pic where she looks pretty, her chin is worse than it looks in that photo

My old cat had it and it was from using plastic and metal bowls. I swapped to ceramic and it cleared up in days.

I’ve never heard of a cat having acne! What does the vet suggest? Is she regularly flea treated?

Vinorosso74 · 10/10/2019 16:19

Plastic bowls are quite a common cause of it so try that first. If no improvement after a few days then vet.

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 10/10/2019 16:21

Ours was given anti-biotics - and yes def no plastic bowls.

bunhead34 · 10/10/2019 16:22

She already has ceramic bowls.

The vet said not to worry as it's not too bad and it doesn't bother her.
I think it only bothers me 😂

@Wolfiefan it's quite common, black spots in the chin fur! It's nothing to do with fleas, she is treated anyway

One of mine had similar. She had a flea allergy. The minute she was bitten she scratched. Sad What do you treat with?
