Cat keeps sneezing - vet?

He had a shitty week last week. Had lots of tests and scans and x rays and had stones removed from his bladder. Discharged from the vet, who has pumped him full of antibiotics, on Saturday. Started sneezing yesterday evening, still sneezing and feeling sorry for himself. Eyes look OK, not winky. He ate his dinner last night but doesn’t appear to have eaten today. He’s been hiding in his “safe space” in my wardrobe and has spent the day sleeping and snotting all over my tops. Is it possible that he caught something at the vet? He’s an indoor cat, with access to a large balcony.

He might have. Is he vaccinated?
He may also have a touch of tracheitis (inflamed airway) which can happen as a result of the breathing tube he needs under anaesthesia - is he on anti inflammatories?

Yup, that's a cold/respiratory infection. Ashycat gets them all the time. Can be caused by stress (she comes nose to nose with another cat and she's snotsville all the way), or he could just have been unlucky.

Vet job, I'm afraid - he'll have a sore throat (rub liberally on the inside with fish, chikkin, etc). Hopefully the antibiotic in the back of the neck will sort it.

Sorry, read that as YOU had all the tests, etc.

I'd pop him back just to be sure.

Goes off to find glasses.

He was booked in to have his jabs today, but medical emergency overtook. Because he’s had 10 days of antibiotics they won’t do his jabs for another 40 days. I’ll take him back to the vet tomorrow. In the meantime, he is ignoring his food, but licked up two lick-e-licks brought to him on a tray in bed.

Feeling sorry for himself, poor love.

If he’s been vaccinated annually then he should have residual immunity and so hopefully it shouldn't Be anything serious. Either just a bug or a bit of inflammation.

You might need to encourage him to eat - warm food, and offer nice things as cats will often go off their food if they can’t smell it

He’s had another Lick-e-Lick, and I added water to it as I am not sure he is drinking enough. He won’t touch his regular food as he doesn’t seem to be able to smell it. Any recommendation for smelly food that he might eat?

I have heard if you warm it a little it brings the smell out.I have crouched in the bushes looking an absolute twat and hand feeding from the packet when my little man was not well. Its a tabby isn’t he.Give him a love from me x

Pilchards in tomato sauce, tuna in spring water. Nuke in the microwave for a few seconds to warm and make smelly.

He’s had x rays of his lungs (clear) and his head (awaiting results). He spent time yesterday having oxygen. He’s stopped sneezing but is breathing noisily. Vet says it is an allergy but it seems more like a cold to me with the residual bunged up nose and snot. He is now eating better.
