Cat weeing on the floor!

Since around May our male, 1.5 year old, neutered, house cat cat wees on the floor in either the kitchen or the hallway. Its very sporadic, probably every 2/3 weeks. He's been checked for infection there's nothing there.

We have a feliway plug in that doesn't seem to have helped. We change his litter twice a week and make sure its cleaned as and when. But he does it even when his litter is clean! Last night he went in for a poo and came out and weed on the floor - not next to the box, he went in the hallway.

I don't know what else to do? Another thing he does is right before he poos he goes mental running around the house and once hes been he settles down. Is that normal behaviour? I've phoned the vets to get him booked in but just wondered if anyone else experiences this.

Is there just one litter tray? A lot of cats don't like using the same one for wee and poo, so adding a second tray could certainly help. Look at the location of the tray as well, is it private and yet easily accessible to him?

Do you have any other pets?

Yes just one, in the kitchen side of the fridge, its a hooded one with a flap. He's always only had one. But I did say to DH last night maybe we should get an extra one and put it in one of the bathrooms and leave the door open.

No other pets. We did move in March, and recently another cat has appeared on the street which seems to both him, he runs from window to window miaowing at it. We do let him in the garden on a harness and leash (sometimes walk him round) and the day he was particularly bothered by it we let him in the garden and straight away he weed on the grass as if he was making his territory. Maybe thats what he's doing as the places he's doing it are all around the windows and the front door.
