Kitten food

Just collected my new kittens at the weekend from the rescue centre and they are eating Royal Canin dry as well as wet food. They have been having cooked chicken too which they love 💗

However thinking long term, what food do others recommend. They have tried pets at home cheapest and felix kitten. They are not picky 😊

Something with high meat and no grains is probably best. Depends on your budget too

MustardScreams · 01/10/2019 15:09

Agree with pp. High meat context as you can find and no grain. I like Meowing Heads kitten food (for the cats, not me to eat!)

Remember to change their food gradually over a couple of weeks, as their tummies are quite delicate when little.

Thanks for suggestions. The rescue centre was feeding royal canin/cooked chicken daily and pouches (not specific) everything seems to be working as they are using the litter tray well Wink

My kitten likes Morrison's kitten chunks in gravy. Sometimes I give kitten chunks in jelly for a change but gravy preferred. Aldi dry food too and Whiskas Kitten milk.

Royal canin isn't great tbh. Has grains and not that much meat

dementedpixie · 01/10/2019 15:34

And they dont really need kitten milk either

Vinorosso74 · 01/10/2019 15:35

Yes to high meat content. Some is really quite low. Food needs to be complete so they get all the nutrients they need. Wet g
food in jelly or gravy isn't good for the teeth or waistline so have a look on Zooplus as there is loads on there.

I guess they are getting a lot of protein from the chicken. Smile

Applaws dry is another with decent meat content.

Watching with interest as our kitten will be ready soon to come to us. Current kitty (adult) enjoys pâté food and James Wellbeloved grain free dry food. Rescue is currently feeding kitten-to-be a range of Felix kitten AGAIL and Whiskas kitten and such like.
As others said, there's something to suit each budget. None of my cats have ever enjoyed Whiskas dry though.
