I love my cats very much but I'm worn out !

The food issues ,the numerous litter trays ,the cleaning up after missing the litter trays .

I'm mean aren't I ? Or possibly v v lazy .

Took BigFurry (17) to the vet today. He's lost mobility, can't jump onto the settee any more, and is mostly sleeping in his basket. His tummy is swollen with fluid. There are a few possibilities but none of them are good. He's having tests tomorrow to see what the palliative options are.

Autumnchill · 16/10/2019 19:54

Oh Bigfluffy 😔

Autumnchill · 16/10/2019 19:55

Furry not fluffy (sorry!)

SingingLily · 16/10/2019 20:29

Poor BigFurry. Hope he has a comfortable night tonight - and you as well, Squeaking.

TrainspottingWelsh · 16/10/2019 21:18

Hoping for the best for Bigfurry

Poor BigFurry

We have a 15 year old cat - always had the fussiness with food and now we have to have a renal diet which thankfully she likes though stuffs herself on. She howls in day and night but it stops when I say Pandacat its OK Mummy is here for cuddles, your water is in your water fountain, your food is in the kitchen, DH is at work but will come home at lunch to see Pandacat and children are at school but will be home after school to see Pandacat Then she's fine. Same at night.

peridito · 17/10/2019 09:18

@PandaTurtle which renal diet food is your anxious lady on ?

Having trouble finding stuff to my anxious boy's liking .

It this one from Pets At Home, also comes in chicken and beef:

www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/royal-canin-vet-diet-feline-renal-tuna-cat-food-pouches-48-x-85g-%28online-only%29

They all look horrible esp. beef, she is nearly blind and think you would need to be to try it. Was really surprised she ate it as there's only been tuna and 1 dry cat food she would eat before then. Started eating chicken when lost most of her sight too. She prefers chicken and tuna to beef. It is one vet gave so he may have tried it already.

peridito · 17/10/2019 09:45

Thanks Panda I'll give that one a go .Well I won't be giving it a go ,hopefully anxious boy will . ( similar dialogue exchanges in our place with the poor old thing )

It's a shame you can't just order one trial one, have to get about 10 million packets. Grin

So elderly lady has been at vets today as yowling has got worse and then this morning there was blood on the puppy pad.

She has cystitis. She's had an injection and now has tablets for that and they've given her some arthritis tablets as well.

The vet did say not to give kitten food as it's too high in protein for an elderly cat.

peridito · 23/10/2019 21:57

Interesting about too much protein . Who knew cat ownership was so complex ?

My elderly girl was at the vets yesterday .We're now waiting to see if she is hyperthyroid . She has had both thyroids out ( £+++ ) but apparently they can re grow .
What a clever kitty regenerating organs .Sigh.

I never knew that!

I'm taking today as a holiday to keep an eye on her. She's too quiet and unsteady on her feet. I fear the time is approaching 😔

peridito · 24/10/2019 06:41

Autumn I'm sorry ...What a kind cat slave you are taking a day off to keep an eye on her .Brew

Sending you and your elderly lady kind thoughts and best wishes today, Autumnchill.

Autumnchill · 25/10/2019 05:12

Sat waiting for vet to cone out to the surgery. She's lost all co-ordination and can't walk. God knows how she got upstairs. She spent an hour in bed with me and has eaten. I'm hoping it's dehydration but my last cat lost co-ordination due to liver failure.

Autumnchill · 25/10/2019 07:18

We've said goodbye to Nelll

Beautiful Nell. She was clearly much loved.

Old cats are incredibly hard work but I love my girl and she is worth it. She has 2 medical conditions that are hard work. Litter issues and her food costs more than mine .
I'm always clearing g up turds and sick and she's cost my insurance company almost £10,000.
But I'll serve her as long as she lives. I've had herfor 18 years and the love she's given me is more than any person ever has.

peridito · 25/10/2019 16:32

Oh Autumnchill I'm so sorry .You must be so sad ,Flowers Flowers

Thank you for posting the picture - she looks lovely .She was lucky to have you as her slave .

Autumnchill · 29/10/2019 20:13

Evening all. I've got spare tablets if anyone wants them. Vidalta 15mg - 51 tablets. Don't want to throw them away as they're not cheap and if someone else has a prescription for same dosage then they are free to a good home. Expiry is March 2020. Message me.

Also got Cystaid Plus.

House is quiet and Fisher doesn't know what to do with herself 😔
