Why has my cat started crapping outside the tray?

She has been doing this for a week now.
Every morning. She has an enclosed tray in the downstairs loo. Poo is normal, no other anything to be concerned about. Weeing in the tray

The other week I had accidentally bought some different litter, it was the same kind of wood chip but it was smaller grains. I thought perhaps this was why she was doing it as didn’t like her litter so I changed back over straight away but she is still doing it!

I am so stressed because the dog obviously loves unattended cat poo out of the box (he won’t put his face through the litter box door) and played in it/with it across my house Envy

Firstly how do I stop her doing this secondly how do I keep the dog out of it?

She is 5 and an indoor cat

If changing her litter back hasn't helped then either try some feliway or the vet.
You have my sympathy I have one who sticks her arse over the side of the litter tray and shits on the floor.

I have one who sticks her arse over the side of the litter tray and shits on the floor.

I have one that doesn't stay seated for the whole performance.

Bold fail!

Do you think the door on it may have caught her?

Try pegging it open & see if she uses it.

She has now weed all over the whole bathroom today, ruining all the towels in the basket on the floor!

Took her to vets she seems fine
Told me to put an uncovered tray in the room she keeps going in - she immediately pooped in this tray, so problem half solved - no window in my upstairs bathroom, so it stinks Sad

No UTI then? Any blood in the urine?

Have you had any building works going on as that unsettles them. Its strange but something is up.

Mine has started pooing by the front door. I bought a large deep open tray and she loves to wee in it but not poo. Its pretty annoying.

We have this. Now got two trays and she poops in one if I'm
Lucky but weed only in one. She hangs over the side and poops on the floor with one. It's driving me nuts as she used to be pure outdoor cat

PookieDo · 27/09/2019 22:06

I have a tiny pipette to catch some wee to test. No other signs of UTI but the poop on the floor seemed to clinch the fact it’s a choice

I am worried DC are just not vigilant enough to spot an accident before Ddog gets to it. DC are 15 and 17! I don’t have eyes in the back of my head but I need to!

Living room rug is under threat of the bin right now... towels I have all in bin bags in the kitchen... and I am £50 poorer!
