I posted a couple of weeks or so ago about my new rescue kittens (Gus and Enid) who had cat flu. After a fairly onerous bout of treatment, I'm happy to say they're both now well and have had their first vaccinations.
Generally I think they've settled in OK - initially very nervous but now having the run of the house, playing ALL the time, happy to interact with us, eating well and using the tray.
BUT they will not be touched AT ALL. If I even put my hand near either of them, they scarper. No stroking, scratching, fussing, nothing at all.
Could the fact that we had to catch them every day to give them medicine have put them off any physical contact with us? I'm worried they will never tolerate being petted.
Anything I can do? I've tried giving them treats (they will have them, then make a dash), getting to their level, lying down, slow blinking, spraying myself head to toe in Feliway, making very slow deliberate movements, but the most they will do is sit next to me.
They're about 20 weeks.
