WTF is wrong with people

My parents’ beloved cat has been shot in the shoulder with a pellet gun. Luckily it missed arteries/nerves etc and she should be ok, but this is just sick. What goes through these people’s minds?!?! Angry

I'm sorry OP, your poor cat. I don't know what must be going on with some people to treat an innocent animal like that.

Our Cat had an unexplained punctured lung and almost died. The vet checked for what might have caused it, not car related and most likely kicked, hard.

Makes me so angry.

SharesinClarks · 09/09/2019 21:01

Glad the cat will be ok. I discovered my poor cat had been shot when he went in for an X-ray for something else. I can't believe someone would do something so callous!

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/09/2019 21:08

Their sick bastards. When dh shot a man in the gun shop said they get loads of requests for something to shoot cats with.

They didn’t sell them anything but it’s obviously a bigger problem than we think. I’d like to see all firearms subject to licensing & safety checks.

SagelyNodding · 09/09/2019 21:12

It happened to both of my previous cats... One came home one day with an air rifle pellet in her shoulder (had to be removed by the vet), the other was shot at by a teenage boy with a bb gun while sunning himself on our upstairs window ledge Angry... People can be utter assholes sometimes. Both were OK by the way, I hope your cat recovers well

DoctorAllcome · 09/09/2019 21:13

Awful. There is no excuse to shoot a cat. Unless it’s a mountain lion trying to eat you.

Vinorosso74 · 09/09/2019 21:36

As I read this thread a job ad is up for a Mental Health Advocate (Forensic) at Broadmoor......
Too many people are dicks and think shooting cats and other defenceless creatures is an acceptable form of entertainment. I don't think I'll ever get my head around why.

Vinorosso74 · 09/09/2019 21:37

@Fluffycloudland77 your DH shot a man in a gun shop????

NcHere · 09/09/2019 21:37

:(

My exs cat was shot and killed by a pellet gun many years ago. It was on the front page of the local paper but the shooter was never caught.

The poor cat dragged itself home with perforated organs :(

Aflorable · 09/09/2019 21:37

That’s so sick and despicable. Thank god the poor thing will be ok. Disgusting!

HappyHammy · 09/09/2019 21:42

Some people are just vile, what's the point of a bb gun, they should be banned and anyone looking to buy any sort of gun or air rifle needs very strict controls.

Hidingtonothing · 09/09/2019 21:49

My local police have just put out a warning after a cat was shot in my area, seems to happen a lot now Sad My old boy can't jump anymore so he's a house cat these days and my girl doesn't seem to want to go out, can't say I'm sorry, I would be worried sick.

Cluckcluck18 · 09/09/2019 21:51

I find it so shocking but then you read about all sorts of animal cruelty. It's so commonplace.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/09/2019 21:56

No, when he used to shoot. He shot clay pigeon.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 09/09/2019 21:59

One of my previous cats got shot by some lowlife piece of shit with an air pistol. Vet was able to remove the pellet and he recovered fully. He also got on the front page of the local rag with the headline 'A whisker from death'

Vinorosso74 · 09/09/2019 22:41

Apologies @Fluffycloudland77 I just read your post again-completely misinterpreted it!
Sorry so many of your cats have been injured. Our lad likes his wanders outside so I just have to hope he stays safe.

ChelseaCat · 09/09/2019 22:54

Thanks to all for sharing my outrage and for your good wishes. Sorry to hear so many others have had similar experiences. Bloody horrible 😡

@DoctorAllcome - that made me chuckle 😊

It's awful to do something like that

We have a spate of cat shootings including some deaths along the road mine comes off. One person had had two incidents years apart

As it goes back years and it's a road with spaced out houses I'm sure the police could find who it is but they don't seem bothered. Police round here aren't stretched at all

Shadow01 · 14/09/2019 19:55

There’s a place in Hell for people who shoot cats Angry
I rescued a cat who had previously been shot a few years ago - sadly she didn’t live long due to long term damage but I’m glad she was loved at the end.

I attended meetings at an old RAF camp near me regularly and last time I was there I heard about a cat that had been shot. I had to sit in the car and wipe dust out of my eyes before driving home. Sad

flapjackfairy · 14/09/2019 19:58

L@Vinorosso. I read it like that as well so it is not just you

DobbyTheHouseElk · 14/09/2019 20:01

So sad to hear this, that’s despicable.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 14/09/2019 20:03

They don't shoot them here.

They put down anti freeze and poison them. Sad

Topseyt · 14/09/2019 22:15

That's awful. Glad the poor cat looks likely to be OK.

Some people really are just lowlife and scumbags. I've absolutely no idea at all how they can live with themselves.
