Help! My cat thinks she's a blanket

I have 2 cats, older girls we brought home from the Cats Protection League. The little black one is now 13 and has taken to stretching out on me all evening. If I have the temerity to get up for anything, she's back as soon as I sit down again. Is is that she really thinks I am a hot water bottle?

She is currently purring away in my right ear with her paws draped over my shoulders. It is quite sweet but I'm wondering if this clinginess is actually a sign of stress. Does anyone have any experience of this and/or advice?

She luffs you. My old housemates big black cat used to put his paws either side of my neck and tuck his head under my chin. My mate's cat hangs round his neck like a scarf when he's gaming.

Weezolcat has taken 8 years to sit on my lap (not her fault, horrible early life) so I am jealous as all hell.

It's coming into Autumn and fuel costs are rising - embrace the warms!

This post is useless without pics.

Ha ha it will be nice when it's cold. I proper luffs her too. She used to sit on my lap but now she gets right in my face and puts her paws on my chin.

She sounds lovely! Don’t worry at all, if she was stressed she would be hiding away from you. Sounds more like a sign of loving her owner very much!

VimFuego101 · 09/09/2019 01:25

If she were stressed she'd be hiding. Enjoy your cat blanket Smile

I have one cats whose mission is to spend as much of his life as possible physically attached to me. He's not stressed at all, just adorable or annoying depending on what you are trying to do at any given moment.

Willowkins · 09/09/2019 02:13

Ooh sorry didn't know the etiquette was to put up a pic. I'll see if I can find one.

It is not stress, it is her way of showing you that you are worthy of her adoration.

Willowkins · 09/09/2019 02:29

Here she is having a good old stretch.

Hurray for cuddly black blankets!

When I was 10 my mam was getting me a surprise birthday present. Alls she told me was I could wear it round my neck like a scarf but it wasn't a scarf. She got me two kitties. Tails unfortunately was NOT the scarf type. She wasn't a people cat at all and legged it as soon as she could. Tiny however bless him loved to be right up under your chin. As do my current crop.

This is Tiny in his last year with us. He had cancer bless him.

We had a car you could wear around your neck. She was an absolute darling. My parents cat also likes shoulder rides. Unfortunately he hasn't learnt that you are supposed to lie down. He stands up and digs his claws in for balance. (He's gorgeous, but not very clever)

It's about time that @MNHQ amended the talk guidelines to say that all threads involving pets are required to have a photo in the OP.Grin

I have a furry leg warmer! Grin I always have to put a blanket between my cat and my legs because she also loves to „make cookies“ before warming my legs.

I have a cat shaped blanket. I'm not allowed to sit on the sofa without her lying on me. She also sleeps on top of me when I'm in bed.

Ooh this excites me. I hope my new kittens think they're blankets. Our old girl necer sat on me once. She sat on my partners knees a couple of times but i dont think she actually realised she was on him!

thecatneuterer · 10/09/2019 12:11

bumping to knock all the cat pee threads off the front page.

DowntonCrabby · 10/09/2019 12:17

We have one of these, she also takes up 1/3 of the king size bed at night.

The overlord likes to sit on my feet to keep them toasty warm.

HippyChickMama · 10/09/2019 12:40

Here is Richmond. He likes to lie with his head on me or else in his bed with his paw round his teddy.

Havelock loves to sleep wrapped around DDs neck. It’s one of his favourite spots
