Rough day for my poor boy.

So it started with Frontline Spot On, never his best day. Then, somehow, he managed to get entangled with a sticky fly strip. He flew, showing acts of athleticism and speed not previously noted, around the house and garden, yowling his unhappiness. I did manage to peel off the offending strip. Poor darling. Short of going to the v.e.t. , I think this must have been his worst day. He is asleep by me now.
In a lighthearted way, what is your cat's worst day?

He fell down the toilet

Another cat of mine brushed up against a load of fragrance oil the kind that comes in red diffusers? So I wiped him off still there showered him still stinks BATHED HIM I can still smell it on him deep bath with vosene! Pretty much gone 6 months on he might have forgiven me ....maybe

Any day he doesn't get what he wants, the very instant he wants it. Cue plenty of grumbling and whinging as well as the hard Cat A stare. When that doesn't work, he flounces - yes, flounces - to his basket.

I'm just a cat servant, a veritable cat's paw. It's my own fault. I somehow managed to confirm his firm belief that (a) everyone in the world loves him and is grateful to do his bidding, and (b) if they don't, then what on earth is wrong with these people?

Arguably, every day could be classed as the Worst Day Ever Grin

Beamur · 08/09/2019 17:32

My cat came home once with engine oil on him, missing a claw or two. I think he used up a life that day.

slipperywhensparticus · 08/09/2019 18:04

My neighbours kittens got stuck in a tree which hung over into my garden I ended up stood on a plastic chair tempting the little beggars down with MY SUNDAY LUNCH they tiptoed down the branch only for me to.yank them off and pass them over they were unimpressed

YesItsMeIDontCare · 08/09/2019 18:07

Any day the weather is sub-optimal. Which can vary, depending on his mood.

Wolfiefan · 08/09/2019 18:09

Oh @willowmelangell his day is about to get much worse. Frontline is notoriously ineffective so the suffering isn’t over.
Old semi long haired girl had a dirty bum once. I decided to try and rinse it off in the shower. We both had a pretty crappy day that day. Shock

Olinguito · 08/09/2019 18:12

The day she chased a squirrel down the garden, only for it to turn around and chase her at full speed back to the house. It took a while for her dignity to be restored after that.

willowmelangell · 08/09/2019 18:19

@slipperywhensparticus no, sorry, he has kept a tally of your failings. Have you tried salmon?
@SingingLily you do his bidding, clearly your circle of friends are, well, failures. Sorry, you need to change your friends.
@Beamur cats will try things to challenge themselves. When it suits them. Not new food. Oh no. On a serious note, thank god he came back!

@YesItsMeIDontCare I know what you mean. Any day with rain in it is not a good day....
@WolfieFan I thought Frontline was good! What have I missed? You are braver than me. Much braver.
@Olinguito that made me giggle. Probably best never to mention it again. But, Smile

One of mine quite likes water, provided she remains warm, so will dip paws in water, get in shower etc. Unfortunately, dd and friends leaving the bath full after playing with dolls in it wasn’t so warm. Nothing is quite as scrawny and pitiful as a drenched long haired cat. Or as cute as one swaddled in a baby towel.

Or possibly the day ‘her’ tree was cut down by the neighbours. The fact it was rotten and likely to seriously damage their home was no excuse for removing her favourite spot. We kept her in so she wasn’t in it when the tree surgeons arrived, and later on she came racing back in disgust and confusion to yowl her tree was gone. And then spent hours telling/ biting/ scratching us to bring it back.

Other cat, the day we had an old falling down outbuilding demolished. Apparently she sat hissing and glaring, and frantically dancing around making hideous screeching noises but wouldn’t go near. Builder thought she was possibly a feral with kittens inside and came to get me. Once they all cleared off round the corner she trotted in and returned with a dead pigeon. Several journeys later it was quite clear the evil builders were intent on breaking in to her personal larder to steal her collection of dead things.

Wolfiefan · 09/09/2019 17:09

@willowmelangell not braver. Young and naive and very very stupid.
Frontline is generally seen as not effective. You will at the very least need to treat the house too. Indorex is good. Better to use advocate or advantage spot on in future though.

willowmelangell · 09/09/2019 21:43

@TrainspottingWelsh awww poor confused girls. I never knew domestic cats stored 'food'! I won't be checking my shed anytime soon...

TrainspottingWelsh · 09/09/2019 22:30

willow she wasn’t always domestic. She likes her home comforts and cuddles but her habits and instincts are still very much wild in some ways. Clearly demonstrated right now as she sleeps on the clean warm washing just out of the drier.

thecatneuterer · 10/09/2019 12:10

bumping to knock all the cat pee threads off the front page.

thecatneuterer · 10/09/2019 12:16

and another bump

willowmelangell · 11/09/2019 20:59

@TrainspottingWelsh I drape The Cat Towel over clean bath towels. The towel basket happens to lie in front of an afternoon sun window. My girl loves it. I love my girl. So obviously......Smile

Smart dark clothes are definitely the day bed of choice here. Especially if you are stupid enough to need to get dressed in them that minute.
