My new kittens are poorly :(

Hi feline friends,

I've adopted 2 kittens this week - they are from an abandoned litter and came from a reputable rescue.

All going as expected this week - hid for a couple of days and now starting to venture out and find their voices.

Today I took them to the vet from their initial check up and first vax, and found the both have cat flu! 😩

I am happy to look after them of course. They have anti inflammatories and eye drops and obviously the hate both.

I feel so bad for them and I am really worried giving them the medicine for a week will affect our bond.

Any tips to help them not hate me?

Trust me they won't hate you. Yes it sucks, but you'll all get over it. Congrats on the new [snuffly] arrivals.

And if you're giving tablets I find hiding the tablet in a bit of Gourmet Gold pate works well, as does a ball of Shiphams Fish Paste (sold for sandwiches).

Cats are pragmatists, as, long as you feed, fuss and allow total control of your life they’re fine.

How are they today?.

StrawberryLocks · 30/08/2019 21:00

@Fluffycloudland77 They seem better. Lots more exploring from both of them, but more so from boy. He's starting to look pretty relaxed...

Girl is still quite timid and retreating into hiding every so often, but definitely improving.

The eye bogeys are looking better so hopefully they're on the mend!

Thanks for checking in x

Oh my goodness! So cute! They'll get over it, you will be their human and they will love you.

He looks really comfy there!.

Aww don’t worry they will love you! We’ve just gone through the same thing, 2 and a half weeks ago we picked up our 2 Bengal kittens and the next day one had cat flu! After a week of not eating she had a great day, the next day they both had sickness and diarrhoea! She stopped eating again and was so much smaller than her brother. Anyway we finally now have 2 happy healthy kittens and even in a few days of eating properly she’s porked up nicely. They have been cuddly the whole time.
