Help...cone of shame

One of the feline overlords has had a nasty abscess on his, ear, scratched another part of his,ear that is now infected, and the vet has put him in a cone.

He hasn't eaten sine it was put on. I don't want to take it off...any suggestions on raising/lowering bowls etc. Top tips needed please. In almost 3 decades of feline slavery, I have never had a cat wear a cone.

I had bowls like this and I sat them in the holder at an angle so it was easier for her to put her face straight into the bowl, it would have been even easier for her if the bowl was smaller than the cone. I also hand fed her before doing thisGrin. Hope he's better soon.

I've seen on YouTube vets/owner putting small amounts of food such as chicken, inside the cone ?

Try an inflatable collar. It doesn't stop them eating

I wondered about those Newcatmum. I'll have to see if I can find any in Carrefour.

I'm not sure the vet does inflatable collars Toddler ... I'll ask her tomorrow. Pet shops are few and far between where I am, and the nearest one will be inaccessible on Saturday, as the way there will be blocked by yet another bloody cycle race. The joys of living in Belgium.

I ended cutting toes off a thick fluffy sock to protect healing abscess under ear - he definitely preferred to the cone of shame and healed really well

That's a great idea Showgirl, but the second part where he scratched is on the lower part of his ear, so top third original puncture and abscess, bottom two thirds where he has scratched and made a wound, hence the cone.

Vet happier yesterday, but cone stays on and house arrest for another week at least. Back to Hibidil then sudocream to clear it up.

Oh I see - sounds like he needs you to knit him a balaclava Wink
Hope the cone is off soon

The cone came off today and he was allowed out. There was an orgy of grooming first, as he hasn't been able to groom himself with the cone on.
