Horrified to learn my boy is a terror

Have recently moved to a much more built up area and with the warmer weather have seen a lot of the neighbouring cats.

My boy cat came home a while ago with fight injuries, but with antibiotics has made a full recovery.

This weekend have heard a lot of yowling outside, only to discover that it’s my boy that seems to be the territorial terror!

He’s a small boy, but is squaring up to cats much bigger than him. I’m worried he may get injured again. Is there any way to stop him doing this?

I’m not sure what you can do - he is neutered already I assume?

An unneutered tom in our old neighbourhood seriously injured both of our cats - almost blinded one, and cut the other one’s stomach open which required surgery. It was horrific. Hope someone has some advice as I’d be devastated if my cat hurt another like this, but I’m guessing there’s little you can do!

No he’s neutered. I don’t know whether he’s always been like this and I just notice it in my old house. Or maybe there weren’t as many cats around

I'm not sure how you can stop it really. My very tiny girl cat had a spate of squaring up to the other, much larger, cats of our neighbourhood and was coming home a bit battered every night.
It stopped when she was attacked by one of the enormous farm cats that chased her into the house through our catflap. I had to intervene because it was too big to get back out again (thank god I was at home!) and she never did it again.

I dont know if you can stop him squaring up .
My garden was a Feline Free For All when my guinea-pigs died (I had piggies for years so made sure they were Fort Knox safe and used to chase cats out) .
Then I noticed a couple of the neighbouring ones sunbathing (and shitting Hmm ) in my garden so I chased them ( with a water fling if needed) so they got the idea that it wasn't their patch.

My two cats started going out in July , they have pretty well owned the garden . The male (who is the shy one) has faced off NDN cat who is twice his size and a tabby from own the road.

Once he's established himself and the other cats know their place , it should settle ?

Have you tried leaving some of his pooh in the garden, in the sites the other cats use . Just to get them used to his smell (don't bury it, cats who want to leave a mark will leave it sitting there )

BTW , mine are both jet black and would look equally evil if they were in the bath (unless they put themselves there for a sneaky pee )

@70isaLimitNotaTarget he jumped into the bath himself because he is so nosy!

He is ‘master’ of the garden which is to be expected, however he now patrols down the street (on both sides) and seems to be expanding his territory.

Maybe he will calm down once they’ve all worked it out, I just worry that he’ll get hurt again, or hurt another cat.

Don’t fancy depositing his poo in neighbouring gardens.

You say you recently moved to your present home, OP. In that case, all the local cats will be adjusting the hierarchy, and your little terror will be jockeying for his position.
Once they’ve established who’s boss, peace should be restored. There may be some more fights and injuries, but hopefully gradually fewer.

No, the pooh goes in his garden (where your NDN cats will come in to mark) so it leaves the scent .
Your cat will then mark it himself .
(When I got my two the advice was to leave some of their dirty litter , but it blows about so I just got some waste in the scoop and artfully arranged it)

Our male injured his eye a couple of weeks ago but no clue why Might 've been a garden plant or twig . Or he might've scrapped with another cat or his sister . Or taken a chunk out with his own claw .

You'll be off your NDN Christmas card list if you lob your cats pooh into theirs Grin
