Do we need a cattery?

We usually use a cattery when we go away but it’s always been for more than two nights in the past.

Are cats ok alone for one night? We’re away for one night this weekend but probably most of one day and a good part of the next. I don’t want to stress out cats out by taking them to the cattery if it’s not required for a night but also want to do the right thing for them.

My worry would be if one was injured somewhere while we were away.

could you arrange for a cat sitter to come round and check on them/ feed them etc?

We leave our cat for that sort of time - with a bowl that opens on a timer. He’s a nervy boy so I feel being alone at home is probably less stressful than cattery for a short stay. He has a cat flap and spends all day outside in summer anyway (and sometimes all night when he’s feeling naughty)

I have a shed that the cats have access to, put enough food/biscuits and water down for a day or 2. Never had any problems

We've left our cat for 1 night before. We made sure we got him in before we left, I wouldn't leave him outside. We left 2 clean litter trays and lots of food and water obviously.

He was very pleased to see us when we got home, then ignored us for a few days, I presume to punish us for leaving him.

Get a cat sitter or a friend/relative/neighbour to pop in and feed.

We've left all the cats we've owned for one night without anyone coming in, just set pop up feeders to go off.
