My cat is a sadist...

When we used to leave the mop bucket outside, we would find mice and rats dead in them. Thought at first they were falling in and drowning but then discovered it was the cat putting them in there and watching them drown Sad

This morning, she’s started doing it again. Found a young rat floating in the paddling pool.

Poor thing.

Horrible cat.

It’s one thing to kill them because she’s hunting them but this is worse!!

My cat is a sadist acting like a cat

There, fixed that for you Grin

I'll admit that drowning is rather unusual, but cats do have a tendency to play with their food before killing it.

Stillstrawberrywater · 25/07/2019 10:20

Its certainly a different way for a cat to finish off their prey. I suppose drowning would be preferable to having your head ripped off like our cat used to do to its prey.

Soubriquet · 25/07/2019 10:24

She’s doesn’t even eat them!!

Just drowns them and walks off

I think I would prefer it to have their heads ripped off. It would be a lot less painful and frightening to watching it slowly drown

As rats can swim...so must have taken a while to exhaust itself to drown

Leave a plank or something in the paddling pool to make a ramp.

HappyHammy · 25/07/2019 10:38

Dont leave water in the buckets and turn it upside down. Can you cover the pool overnight.

Soubriquet · 25/07/2019 10:39

No it’s a circular one so I can’t find a cover for it but the plank idea is a good one.

I’ll see what I can find in the garden to use

Can you just get a cheap plastic seat or table cover or wilko sell plastic sheets for decorating and drape it over weighted down. Rat tiddle in the pool isntverynice.

Isitweekendyet · 25/07/2019 10:42

Oh god that would be my nightmare thankfully our lady is a bit past the hunting phase - she is partial to bring back things she finds dead though!

I second the pool cover! A bedsheet works really well, especially with round pools!

She’s building up to the dog.....

Soubriquet · 25/07/2019 14:23

GrinGrin

She actually likes my smallest dog and will play with her on her own terms, though if she wanted to, Toots could harm little shit.

The bigger dog chases her and Toots has no chance against her.

But I can see your thinking
