Does olbas oil really repel cats?

I have just discovered the beginning of scratch damage on my (brand new, eye wateringly expensive) bed.
I am absolutely beyond livid.

I have heard that cats detest olbas oil and for best results to apply it to used teabags.

I'm going to put some olbas teabags on the floor right beside the bed.

Is it likely to work to stop her ever entering my bedroom again?
She has now lost the right to nap on my bed.

I can't just close the door unfortunately as the bed frame partially blocks it

Cats like a consistent scent profile in their home & scratching is a great way of doing this.

I don’t think it will work. Can she sleep on the sofa instead?.

No my cats love it and if I'm wearing it on my top for a cold they'll come and sniff it and lick it.

Olbas contains peppermint and eucalyptus oil which are toxic for cats

You bought a new bed which is so big that you can't close your bedroom door?

The obvious solution is to keep the cat out of the bedroom. Could you rearrange the furniture or rehang the door so you can close it?

My cat goes mad for mint tries to nick my teabags. Lemon is ment to put them off.
