House moving advice

We are likely to be moving in the next few months. Our 7 year old rescue cat who has been with us for 5 years is quite clingy and nervous and I'm looking for advice to help him settle. He's used to going out around our quietish area but I'm thinking I'll have to keep him in initially when we get to our new place. Is this a good idea? My daughter is going to keep him for a few days around the actual move time. Any suggestions as to how to make the move easy for him? Thanks

General rule I’ve heard is keep the cat inside for a couple weeks after the move. It gets them used to their new home. Then short trips outside (if that’s possible with a cat!). I’ve moved successfully a few times with cats this way.
Also not a bad idea to put cat in cattery for a few days as packing up and the actual move and then unpacking is frightening for a cat.

Thanks, that's kind of what I thought. Don't want to upset him if I can avoid it.
