Help - my poor old girl is constantly weeing

My beautiful old girl has coped really well with CKD for the last few years but it's not looking great now.

Her bloods and blood pressure are pretty good but she's losing protein - latest reading is 0.8.

My fabulous vet has put her onto Simentra and I'm really hoping it will help. She seems happy in herself but she's losing condition and really distressingly is weeing everywhere. It's like she has a permanent UTI.

Is there with any good news stories of Simentra or around to hold my hand? She's been with me for nearly 20 years and is my best friend.

Sorry this has happened, be prepared to say goodbye to her, ask the vet if she is in any pain. It happened to my girl she would even leak in her sleep, my vet said it is time.

Thanks just. I think it's more discomfort than pain right now but it's always on my mind.

Sadly I think you might be right that it's almost time. I'm broken hearted.

Sending love @eleventybillion. I’m in a similar situation with CKD in an old lady cat. She’s not weeing everywhere, but when my other cat was dying of cancer he started to wee wherever and it was upsetting for him because he was such a good cat and knew that he shouldn’t. Like @justasking111 said, it was a sign. I’m so sorry, it’s a thoroughly shit situation 😔

So sorry just and sausage Thanks

We love them so much and it's just so shit.

Has your vet tested a urine sample to check if it is actually a UTI? CKD cats are more prone to infections due to their dilute urine apparently. Mine had several courses of antibiotics for UTIs during her last two years.

Has she got a UTI? My old lady with CKD started weeing all round the house and multiple trips to the vet for the eventual cystocentesis (old lady behaved very badly at vet Grin) and wee sample later - she had E. Coli in her wee.

Course of antibiotics later and she is busy grumping round the strawberry patch like old times.

I hope your cat does well Flowers

Thanks viccat and anna. UTIs ruled out with 2 urine tests - the vet thinks it's the protein in her urine causing the problem.

Day 2 of the new med to bring it down. She seems a little better and ok in herself - eating ok and wanting cuddles. She's still weeing everywhere and it does look a bit uncomfortable for the poor old girl.

I think I'll give it a few days to see if the Simentra works as long as she seems to not be in pain. She's so good at hiding it through so I worry about doing the right thing for her. I'm just so sad.
