I’m so sad

I posted a few days ago about my old lady cat (and thanks for the responses, I’m really grateful).

Unfortunately she’s not improved. She’s got kidney disease and was on a drip over the weekend which lowered her levels slightly, but she’s no better in herself. She hasn’t properly eaten since last week, is lethargic and just not herself. She’s 14.

Fuck I’m so upset. I can’t make this decision. I lost one of my boy cats about 2 years ago to an aggressive cancer and having him PTS was the worst thing, even though it was right for him. I’ve has cats all my life and obviously had lots of them die over the years and it’s so horrible. I keep crying.

Spoke to the vet this morning and we’re going to have one more try with an appetite stimulant but I know it’s not going to make any difference.

Sorry. I just knew you lot would understand.

Handhold and Thanksit's awful.

I am so, so sorry ❤️ 💐

Thanks @Toddlerteaplease @ClaraTA. Made the decision and she’s going to the vet tomorrow night. I’m heartbroken. I’ve tried her with pilchards, dreamies, tuna, nothing’s worked. I get a feeling that she’s just given up. I managed to give her an appetite stimulant tablet and she left a claw in my finger.

I had my cat PTS a fortnight ago. She was 19, also had kidney disease. I've had her since she was a tiny kitten, we've been through loads, and making the decision was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But I was looking at her and how she was at the end, and comparing it to the memories of when she was well and I know 100% that it was the kindest thing I could do for her. I understand exactly how you feel but you're giving her the last gift that you can. It sounds like she had a great life with you to live to such a good age and your love for her is clear

Thinking of you and your pusscatFlowers

Thank you @ValleyoftheHorses and @MitchAPalooza - I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. You’re right, compared to how she was when she was well, she’s a shadow and upsetting her trying to get tablets down her isn’t a life. God why do we do this to ourselves? Because they’re so brilliant to have around 😔
