Blood in cat poop

Wondering if anyone else has had this with their kitties?

It’s been going on for about a week on and off (so not every poo).

It’s softer than usual and has an almost halo of clear mucus around it and there is blood in the mucus.

She’s 11, spayed and an indoor cat.

I’m taking her to the vets tomorrow but I’m assuming this won’t be good news poor girl.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Thanks

Perhaps it's IBD which I think is surprisingly common in cats, also to a certain degree controllable. I don't have personal experience with my cats but know that is is a cause of blood particularly with mucus. Good luck for tomorrow let us know how she gets on.

My kitten had this when she was quite young, it happened once or twice, I just made sure she had plenty of water down in case she was dehydrated and gave her a bit more wet food and a few less biscuits, it didn't happen again and I've not thought about it since. If it would of carried on I would of had her at the vets.

Thanks to all who replied. She’s got a bacterial infection and is on medication bless her Smile
