We said goodbye to our little cat nearly a month an half ago and while im no where near as sad as i was the 1st few days, i still get pangs of sadness and miss her so much.

I adopted another cat about 10 days later. I wasn't going to adopt so soon, but the right cat came along. And she has been the best thing. She helped fill the gap. And helped my remaining cat to get over it. She took away the sadness. I still miss Maia terribly and her first anniversary is coming up with makes it worse. But I can now look back and smile when I think of her thanks to Cheddar.

We're definitely going to adopt another one (or 2!) But have quite a few holidays coming up so would like to get them out the way so we can then devote our time to them. I'd get another one tomorrow if it wasn't for the holidays.

A month is still pretty soon, I think. I think I was ready for another cat after about 6months. Of course you miss her but one day you will get to the point of being ready to love another one, you'll know. I still miss my previous cats sometimes even though the new ones are 4 now.

My Nigel died 2 years ago and I still miss him! I think because it was so unexpected and he was just sooo sweet.

They really are family, I don’t think the pain ever goes you just learn to live with it.

Sorry for your loss though Sad

TroysMammy · 30/06/2019 17:44

Sorry for your loss.

Troy died just over 3 years ago. I think I'm ready for another cat but when I went to a Cat's Protection open day last week I could feel myself getting all wobbly when filling out my details. I'm still not 100% sure but if/when the right kitty comes along I know I will be smitten and a devoted slave.

Not a cat but my dog of 11 years died in April. I still miss her so much, if I think too much about her I'm in tears.

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 30/06/2019 17:50

We lost our last old girl two years ago - she was 22

I still find tears well up when I think of her ( like now ..sniff) and we would love another puss. But I am seriously allergic to cats - my asthma was so bad I spent every winter in hospital with pneumonia... but since she passed I haven't had to toot on my inhaler more than the usual dose and haven't touched my nebuliser!

My arms ache for her... still

Toddlerteaplease · 30/06/2019 18:14

I almost didn't go and see cheddar as it was so soon, and gave my head a firm wobble about not getting carried away. But I knew straight away she was the right cat. She does things that Maia used to do which is really sweet. It's very unlike me, but I genuinely believe she was sent by Maia.

So sorry I posted in the wrong thread!! Very insensitively too.

Very sorry for your loss.

Kyriesmum1 · 01/07/2019 18:18

We lost max nearly two years ago and although I can talk about him without crying now I still miss him terribly!! It was like losing a baby!! I have his urn and fav toy in my lounge along with his paw print.

StillMedusa · 01/07/2019 19:35

I lost Morpheus, love of my life, 5 years ago this month.
I got two more Maine Coons a few months later, and I love them but he was special and I still miss him terribly.
I still well up when I see photos of him, and if there is an afterlife... he'd better be there or I'm not going!

So sorry I never came back to this. Sorry for everyone's losses but thank you for also sharing your stories. It's so difficult isnt it. I woke this morning and was sure i could hear her in her litter tray then felt all down when I realised I was dreaming.
