Cat- kittens-baby..

Hi everyone

Not really looking for advice as this isn't a problem per se but more a story

So last October I posted here as we had to PTS our lovely cat who was 13 but she got sick and was going downhill rapidly. It was really really hard

I did discover though in the weeks that followed that I was pregnant with my first baby and all has been well and it has definitely helped with my grieving for puss

I am due in 3 weeks.

About 5 weeks ago a little kitten started showing up at our backdoor.. we live quite rurally so this is not unheard of as many farms around.
She was really friendly and we fed her etc and petted her and she would be missing some days and back others etc.

Anyway it became clear she was pregnant. We checked around with neighbours etc and no on knew her. The night before last she busted her way through our cats old locked cat flap... we put her out yesterday morning but she did it again last night and gave birth to 5 kittens in a corner in our sitting room. One little one did not make it but she is so proud of herself ... but the timing of this is not good.

We can put her in our bathroom where she will be safe with her babies and we can close off that side of the house. In a few weeks we can have her spayed, keep her and the kittens rehomed.

I just think she picked well, she could tell we were softies. She is doing so well today as i nipped home for lunch, I would nearly start my maternity leave early to go look at them and how cute they all are !

Congratulations on your new arrivals. Your new cat clearly knows she's onto a good thing Grin.
Any chance of photos?

Quite a feat to break a cat flap while heavily pg, that’s like you breaking a door down.

She’s done well to feed herself enough too.

I loved your story. My parents had a stray do the same thing when I was two. I'd fallen in love with one, my Mum another, my auntie had one, but somehow we kept the remaining twoSmile

They are going to be balls of energy when you have your baby, but you'll have plenty of time to watch them while you're feeding/cuddling. Enjoy

She can sense the hormones I reckon Grin
My babies mum was dumped heavily pregnant on a farm and walked into the farmhouse and gave birth.

That’s great that you are going to keep her and rehire her babies too and best of luck with your own baby

Oh that teeny wee face!!! We have 3 cats and a baby, you will all be fine, best of luck with all your new arrivals!

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/07/2019 10:27

Looks a bit Bengal to me.

Porridgeprincess · 01/07/2019 10:30

I know, the little face is too much. There is another funny pic too.. little black kitty with a Harry Potter marking on his forehead giving out stink as was jostled out of the way by another..

It’s the massive ears.

Porridgeprincess · 01/07/2019 10:48

Ah yes, just had a look there at some pics and traits and there are some similarities but this little one doesn't make any noise at all, except purr. She literally does not miaow, we think her hearing may not be the best.

I'm with Fluffycloudland770.

My DW looked at the picture and said that she looks just like TC.
She looks gorgeous but there may be trouble ahead Grin.

TheLongRider · 01/07/2019 11:12

We have a cat that doesn't meow either. Her hearing is just fine!

Good luck with mummy cat and the kittens. Her babies will be reared in 3 months and you'll just be starting with your baby!

Thanks so much for all the lovely messages. I have already secured a good home for two of the kittens when they get to about 12 weeks. I have not been near kittens since I was a child, I forgot how fast they grow!
