Cat hates her cone collar

My DCat had a lump removed from her back today, hopefully it won't turn out to be anything sinister.

anyway she is in a lampshade collar and she absolutely hates it. She can't seem to get comfortable whichever way she tries to lie down .

It's really upsetting me..I just wanted some words of comfort that cats get used to wearing these wretched things, and she'll be able to find a way to sleep/eat?

Her wound is quite large and sore looking so obviously the priority is for her not to be licking/scratching it..It's just horrible to see her unhappy and struggling.

She has to wear it for 10days.

Get a cat baby gro or make one. My cat managed to get the cone off within minutes and refused to wear it

They do get used to it, usually within a day or two at most. You can help her work out how to position it to the edge of the food bowl so she can eat (inside bottom edge of cone outside the bowl edge).

She could be restless from the after effects of the anesthesia today.

Floofcat has been wearing hers for 6 weeks initially she hated it, but she is now used to it.

It was the way she was walking backwards trying to get it off that was horrible to see

OH took it official for her earlier so she could eat.. she's quiet this morning but doesn't seem to be struggling with it.

Ours got her front paw through the cone collar so was hopping around on 3 legs. We ended up with a fetching little red vest like Pixie’s above. She worked out how to get out of it after about 4 days, but wound was ok by then. She also refused to stand up when wearing the vest - just keeled over........ the vet referred to her as ‘the diva’.

Got results back just now, it was a tumour on my cats back. Luckily they described it as 'low grade' so unlikely to spread but we'll just need to keep a check on her for any further lumps.

Thank god OH felt it on her back as she is so fluffy we would never have seen it.

We ditched the cone a few days ago as Dcat was sick into it and it was causing her so much misery I just couldn't do it to her..she's been very good and left her wound alone, and it is healing up nicely.
