Is my cat eating enough?

We adopted our cat 4 weeks ago and was told to feed her 30g of burgess dry food twice a day. We have been doing this and she sometimes gets a treat but excessively. She will finish the first bowl by early evening but she doesn't each much after that so I would say she is eating probably no more than 40g a day. She has just started going out. She is 7. She seems happy and doesn't feel thin.

What weight is she? Food amount is normally calculated from that. Do you give any wet food?

I would say that if there's food available to her all the time that she doesn't always eat, and she's not losing weight, she's probably fine. Cats can have different appetites, and like people need different amounts of food.

Her appetite may well pick up a bit now she's going out regularly, and/or when it turns colder in the autumn.

I'm not sure of her weight so should probably check that. She's absolutely fine in herself and is happy and will graze off and on from morning until I go to bed but yes I don't think she eats the full amount but I should probably stop worrying if she's happy and looks healthy :)

A wet diet is far better for cats, so just wondering if she'd be tempted by a pouch/small tin of something as a second meal.

It might be worth trying to weigh her, easy with digital scales as long as you an hold onto her long enough. Then weigh yourself again without cat. That way you can keep an eye on her weight if you're worried. It won't do any harm having a general idea of her weight, that way health conditions in the future may be flagged up earlier if you know she's lost weight alongside acting out of character
