How long should I keep her in?

We moved house just under 2 weeks ago, DCat was at the cattery for the duration of the move as she is a rescue and has some issues with abandonment, although as we have had her for nearly 2 years now (longest anyone has kept her), she has chilled out a lot and is a happy catty most of the time.

We brought her back last Tuesday so she has been back a week..she is DESPERATE to go outside in the back garden. She sits on the window ledge looking out and yowls at the back door.

She is a house-cat mostly, happiest curled up asleep on our bed, but in the old place liked being able to have a potter about in the garden once a day.

The garden here is enclosed with no access to the road..the cattery owner said keep her in for 6 weeks which seems excessive. I think we kept her in for 3 when we first got her from the RSPCA.

Any advice? I was thinking maybe one more week indoors then maybe let her out with us weekend after this, or are we asking to lose our beloved mogule..?

So has she only been in your new place a week, having come from the cattery? I don't think its long enough for her to have learnt the new smells etc. Probably try for another week or two if you can bear it, mine were in for 3 weeks when we first got them. Better to have a bit of a grumpy cat for another couple of weeks and make sure she's safe, than let her out and she gets lost.

@UnderPompeii thanks for the advice...I think we'll definitely keep her in another week and then reassess it again.

The house we have moved into is much bigger than our old flat so lots to explore! Feel a bit mean when she is yowling to go out, but of course it's better to be a bit mean than lose her for good.

Oh bless her, she's got plenty of time ahead of her to explore. Love black and white cats, I'm currently trapped under one
