cat carrier sharing

What do we think about cats using the same cat carrier?
(Not at the same time. With the feline politics in our household, that would be murder)
We have 2 cats, therefore 2 carriers for joint MOT at V.E.T.s
DM, who lives very close by is getting a rescue cat. We were thinking of saving her the trouble of getting another carrier, i.e. she could always borrow one of ours (unlikely all 3 would need trip to vet at same time, unless it's the apocalypse)
However would this distress everyone? Would they pick up each other's smells/stress?

It's fine if all the cats live in the same house. But she needs to have her own carrier purely for emergencies. What if the cat needs to see a vet in an emergency? She needs to have a carrier to hand. The time it takes to get yours (and what if it's the middle of the night?) might mean the difference between life and death.

On the other hand if you are happy for her to keep your second one permanently then fine.

We have three cats and two carriers. Never been a problem. When we moved house we borrowed a third one from a friend.

Thanks both.

catneutrer, that's a good point.
However, practically speaking, we're less than 500 steps away.
DM would need our help to take cat to vet, she doesn't drive. So we'd be turning up anyway.

I like to have enough carriers in the house for all my cats (four cats). Not just for vet emergencies but any other emergency situations that may mean I would need to quickly take all cats out of the house with me - household emergencies etc.

We have 3 carriers and 7 cats. Al of them have been in all of the carriers, alone or with another cat. The only problem has been getting the cat IN the carrier!
