Cat Conundrum

DS and I were just talking about DCat1.

How do cats know to claw up the carpet near the door and pull it from under the grip, rather than claw in the middle of the carpet where it would have no effect?

Because they are cats (aka bastards)

I have hard floors all downstairs, old cat used to find shaggy rug to be sick on and laugh at me picking the bits out (I threw the rug out)

SisyphusDad · 31/05/2019 22:21

I guess it was a rhetorical question.

It's just one of many pieces of cat wisdom that mummy cat passes onto her kittens before they go out into the world.

Along with:

  • Make sure you leave your hairballs on the stairs for maximum effect when your human slaves are bleary-eyed and bare-footed on a Monday morning.
  • Choose the most crucial point of any film to leap up onto the TV cabinet and walk up and down waving your tail.
  • Don't bother getting the lid off the kitchen bin and chucking the contents onto the floor unless your humans have just mopped it.

And many more!

  • any box is yours, you must immediately go and claim in
  • lying on a dining room table and swatting the idiot dog is a good game
  • miaowing for Dreamies until they give in and get you some

  • The more expensive the toy, the more exciting is the packaging it came in, so the toy can safely be ignored in favour of the wild excitements possible with a piece of backing card and a small length of sellotape.

Why use a catflap when there's a human available to let you in and out of the back door.

MrsLindor · 02/06/2019 09:53

Want to sniff the dog's ear but he's not sitting still, stand on his head and pin him down until you're finished. Thankfully the (10x bigger) dog adores her.

@ExpletiveDeleted,

Extension to this: Why use a cat door when there's a window 1 metre away that a human can open for you (and then have to close because it's cold / wet).
