My 2 rescue boys are allowed out next week, they've never been outside cats (they're 1) and I am nervous/ excited. They're really nosey so I'm sure they are going to love it but they will not keep a collar on and I'm scared of what gifts they might bring me if I can't get them used to wearing one, any tips from anyone?

Here's a pic. Happy Thursday Smile

If you actually look at the whole article that @Giantkitten has posted, it goes on to state that there is no evidence that cats are decimating the bird population.

Link here

A collar can cause a lot more trouble to a cat than a cat can cause the wildlife/bird population.

They are awful Lone. I also worry about my cat ending up hung or trapped somewhere by a collar. (Our two are adventurous wee beasties!)
Years ago (before chipping!) we did find some brilliant Velcro soft collars but they don’t seem to exist anymore.

Wolfiefan · 31/05/2019 09:31

I’ve just found them. On a website called funky felines!! Beasty bands still exist!
Mine are chipped so no collars at all for ours.

Yes, I read that, but I’m more concerned about birds being killed in my backyard than the net effect on the national bird population. Especially when it’s fledglings.

Results show that cats equipped with a bell returned 41 per cent fewer birds and 34 per cent fewer mammals than those with a plain collar.
