My cat is missing and I’m going away

My boy hasn’t been home for 24hrs Sad he went out after dinner yesterday, he usually is gone for a few hours and comes home late night, but he hasn’t reappeared by this morning. He has done this occasionally but is usually back the next day. I left the window open for him whilst I was out but he’s still not home this evening. I’ve walked around and looked/called for him but nothing. He’s never been gone this long before.

Thing is we’re supposed to be going away for the weekend, l was taking him to the cattery tomorrow. What do we do? I guess we have to cancel and stay/keep looking, and miss the weekend. Going to lose money on the hotel and tickets. I feel useless. Where is he :-(

Can you claim on your pet insurance? I believe mine covers cancelled holidays due to the cat. Fingers crossed he reappears overnight!

He’s home! Thank goodness, naughty sausage. I gave him the biggest hug and he was just his usual squirmy self (not a cuddle cat) and then pointedly looked at his food bowl “what the fuss, give food woman” (his kibble is freely available in a puzzle feeder but he wanted the good stuff). No damage, didn’t look like he’d been out in the rain. Hope he’s not finding himself another human and pretending to be a sad homeless waif! I bloody handreared him, he’s not going anywhere!

Glad he's back! Bloody cats!
My old boy cat does this every spring. He disappeared for four days last week! So not necessarily another family but probably hunting little baby animals. Sad but true!

Yes he bought in some kind of rodent and casually dismembered it on my kitchen floor last week. In some ways I’m proud that he has his instincts despite being handreared, but in others it’d be nice if his instincts didn’t leave blood and guts smeared on my lino!

Feel very guilty taking him off to the cattery this morning. They know him well though.

He probably had a huff because he knows you were going away!

Yes I was going to say that ... he KNOWS.
