How much do you feed your cat?

I feed my cat wet food (in pouches) and sometimes mix with biscuits but he always seems to be hungry! I'm not sure if I'm not feeding him enough or if he is just greedy

I think there aren’t guidelines on the box of wet pouches.. think it’s up to 4 a day if just wet food? (Might ne wrong) my two females have a mix of wet and dry and are slim cats, never had any issues on their weight. They have 2 pouches each (1 morning and evening) plus a large bowl of biscuits available in the day which they share. They often leave food so I know they aren’t hungry. A male would probably want more than a female but if he’s having more than 3 pouches plus biscuits I’d say he’s probably just a bit greedy! X

Mine share their food, and have half a pouch in the mornings and one at night between them, plus dry ad lib. I think he eats more wet and her more dry, both drink plenty of water, and at their vet checks are pronounced to be in excellent condition including weight.

I gather that more cats are self regulating than there are greedy ones.

My cat eats 1.5 - 2 pouches a day, plus as much dry as he wants which is only about 1/4 cup a day He doesn't really eat much sometimes and is slim.

My girl has 2 wet pouches a day and always has biscuits and water out.
She will whinge at me each time I go into the kitchen, even if she has food down. If she whinges and there's no wet food left then I give her more.

I think she just sees me in the kitchen as an opportunity to see what's going at that time. Rather than actually being hungry.

4.5 pouches a day. 6.8kg Bengal.

I’d rather it was 4 and he’d rather it was 5 but we’ve compromised.

I leave dry out and give wet 2 or 3 times a day (only half a pouch each for each feed)

My ragdolls free feed but they just graze. They eat breed specific food and are pretty big the male is 27lb and the female is still growing and weighs 18lb. When they have had baths they look very skinny Grin

Lonecatwithkitten · 27/05/2019 21:52

Boy cat 4.5kg British short hair cross - 24g of hills c/d multicare in the morning and one small tin of hills c/d urinary stress stew in the evening.
Girl cat 3.5kg ( underweight) Siberian 55g of canagen salmon split into two meals once she hits her ideal weight of 4kg she will get 50g.

Mine always have dry food and we give them all the raw they want - they are not greedy cats at all so eat when they are hungry. If that changes over time I will have to impose a set amount but no need for now. Both are big fit cats and not overweight at all.

Two times of Applaws tuna a day and as much Applaws dry as he likes.
