Giving my cat away today

I'm so devastated, I am to be giving my cat back to the shelter today.
We've had her for just shy of a year and she's my little best mate but my son has been so unwell. After about a year we've finally got a diagnosis of severe allergies, including the cat, so she has to go. I honestly did think it was her, we thought it was his milk.

I have to put him first but I'm dropping her off in an hour and I haven't stopped crying 😢 She doesn't understand and probably thinks I just don't love her anymore.

No one seems to understand how I can be that attached to her but it's honestly breaking my heart.

I'm so sorry...that is heartbreaking for you. Totally understandable. Sending hugs xx

Sorry I really don't know why I posted this, seems so self centred.

She's gone now and my house feels so empty I guess I just needed to get it out. Thank you @IPokeBadgers

Not at all, you're doing the right thing, will the rescue centre update you?

reallysadtoday · 25/05/2019 21:31

@Joopy I didn't know they could but they told me I could call for updates on a few weeks. I honestly don't know if this will just re open the wound but I would like to know how she is.

I'm just crying into a drink every time I spot an empty space where her things were. Need to get a grip to be honest! My kids knew she was going but they were out with my DH when I took her and they haven't noticed yet, but they're only young. Waiting for that tomorrow.

Be kind to yourself, keep busy

So sorry. You really had no choice, I know that doesn’t make it easier.

I am sure she will find a wonderful home and be spoiled rotten.

I hope your son feels better. Xx
