This is Chester. He is 5. We've had him a couple of months now, rehomed with his sister. He's a big soft, loves company, snuggles a lot, but randomly sinks his teeth in, sometimes mid-cuddle. Luckily (not for him) he's missing a few teeth, but it can still hurt! Just wondered if this is normal cat behaviour?!

Ah love nips. Apparently it means he likes you (I think that was written by a cat. Probably on Kittipedia).

In short, your cat can give you love bites to display affection, and the reason why is completely adorable. It's thought that the gentle gesture is reminiscent of their kittenhood days, when their mothers would lick and nibble them while grooming.

Gentle?? Hmmm. Grin

Is he a Persian? He looks just like chedddar

He's lovely!

Cheddar has a doppelgänger!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/05/2019 11:25

His personality sounds like cheddar, except with her it's excessive kneading, but her claws are rather sharp!

timperley · 27/05/2019 23:07

Thanks everyone!

Icklboo I will content myself with the thought that these are bites of love and the pain is not wilfully inflicted!! (Not 100% certain lol)

Toddlerteaplease oh yes! V similar, altho I think Cheddar v pretty and Chester more of a grumpster. He is exotic x bsh. Here is gratuitous pic of him awake (doesn't happen a lot)

Sometimes it can be from over stimulation if it's mid-cuddle when you're giving him a fuss. Watch his body language, you will learn to read the signs and prevent some of the biting incidents.

He does strongly remind me of Cheddar. He looks as if he is smiling in the most recent pic, reminiscent of our Biggie.

madcatladyforever · 28/05/2019 01:03

He is so cute he can bite me all he wants. My cats been biting me for 15 years. She does it to discipline me. If I am ignoring her or if I don't get up early. It's more of a nibble really. She lives me though.

Toddlerteaplease · 28/05/2019 09:43

Omg he's gorgeous, he can come and live with me. Cheddar would love a boyfriend!

@Toddlerteaplease she is so cute! Definitely a match.

Chester says he has a GSOH, enjoys napping, scratching, bird-watching and kicking his sister off the sofa...

Cheddar says she also has a GOSH, loves eating, chatting to anyone, naps and being carried around perched on an arm. She needs a cat who can help her learn to sit still for more than 5 seconds. Her sister already has a boyfriend in @PinkSparklyPussyCat's Harry, so she wants one too!

Toddlerteaplease · 29/05/2019 15:07

I think we also need a picture of Chester's Sister.

GiantKitten · 29/05/2019 15:16

If you dyed Chester pink he’d be a dead ringer for Bagpuss Smile

GiantKitten · 29/05/2019 15:16

And Cheddar is s female Lorax Grin

timperley · 29/05/2019 23:43

Lol I think Chester and Cheddar would definitely make a gorgeous couple!

Here's his sister, the illusive Marlene...

I agree with GiantKitten. I also think Chester is a dead ringer for Bagpuss!

Toddlerteaplease · 30/05/2019 06:38

Marlene is gorgeous too!
