Cat tracker

So my new kitten is reaching six months but I'm terrified of letting her out.
Has anyone tried a pet tracker and find them a worthwhile investment?
I've seen the tractive ones but I'm not sure if it's a good one and looks quite heavy as she's only small.

We agonised about getting trackers but then decided against it as the temptation to check it when bored at work would be too much and if the tracker showed them really far from home we'd freak out and spend too much time panicking!
