What are the first signs of crazy cat ladyness? (Lighthearted)

I'm a relatively recent cat convert, grew up with dogs and never quite 'got' cats until my neighbours got a really friendly cat that used to visit. I fell in love!

I now have two of my own and I'm besotted! I find myself doing things like adding lactose free milk to the weekly shop, a sure sign I'm now a die hard cat lady.

What are your weaknesses in the cat slave department?

Pet sun lounger also in green. The grey would look nice with one of those outdoor patterned rugs under it.

RedForShort · 17/05/2019 08:02

Don't have BMI in Ireland 😔 what am I going to do!!!

Claw01 · 17/05/2019 08:28

Cat sun loungers ❤️ Won’t they end up just like cat beds?!

I end up with 2 cats and the dog on my sun lounger with me!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 17/05/2019 08:28

Cats would sit under the sunlounger though.........shade, privacy, secrecy and the chance to have your ankles when you walk past. Grin

Cat sunloungers Grin

My cat likes lying in the sun but can get too hot due to her ginormous floof. Last Summer she would miaow for me when she got too hot so I could carry her to her usual spot under the hedge. I also brought bowls of water to her.

Claw01 · 17/05/2019 08:49

70isaLimitNotaTarget That is very true Grin They start off on top with me, then underneath. Once under, you move at your own risk! God forbid, you dangle a hand or a foot over the edge!

Buying things with cats on (mugs, pens keyrings, cushions, pictures of cats etc.

I cried on holiday because I missed him! We're about to go away for 2 weeks and I'm dreading it.

agnurse · 17/05/2019 16:06

We left our cats (only two at the time - didn't have Gatsby yet) with my parents while we were on holiday in the UK for two weeks. My parents also have two cats. We would send periodic emails checking in and letting them know how things were going and what we had done. Mum would send back updates about how the cats were doing. Apparently Biggie made a new computer friend (Mum - he was sitting on her lap while she was typing), but my parents' cat Lady Jane was not receptive to his "rough wooing". (Biggie is neutered and Jane is spayed but we don't think Biggie has quite realized that he is altered. He is a bit thick.)

Mum loves cats so it is not surprising that she sent updates Grin

Taking pictures of them all the time!!

I’m also a childminder and we often make Pom Pom toys for the cats to play with Grin

They very nice kitties! A mini-panther and mini-tiger! The mini-panther especially is gorgeous.

Papergirl1968 · 18/05/2019 00:49

We take Matt on holiday with us (self catering here in uk) as we can’t bear to leave him. We have had the odd couple of nights in a hotel while he stayed with my mom, but we missed him so much!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/05/2019 23:44

This will be my last night as a Sane Person.

Tomorrow , if all goes To Plan , I should have my two , new cats.

I have been shopping for trays, plates, litter, food .
I have checked what they eat so no shocks to their systems.
I have accepted that we cannot wander about with doors open because they need to be kept secure so everyone is on board .

Anything left lieing about will be at risk of being shredded .
All my clothes will have a light dusting of CatHair.

My DH is the Mad Cat Person , so he will be the one who will be sat on Grin

My life will never be the same again. I will be looking for advice , comfort, virtual pats on the head Smile

Toddlerteaplease · 19/05/2019 02:39

Good luck @70isaLimitNotaTarget, in a few weeks you'll be wondering how on earth you ever lived without a cat.

agnurse · 19/05/2019 04:45

Plus, given that you are not a cat person, it's likely you will be the one to be constantly sat on and pestered for attention.

Mum says cats know who they need to convert Grin

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/05/2019 08:30

I am a cat lover , but my DH is a magnet to them Grin . Our old girl (years ago) and my DBro elderly cat absoloutely swarm to him.

DH wasn't mad keen on the guinea-pigs but now we are piggie-less after 8 years, he has the opportunity to fill our house with cats (and my DC are teens so quite laid back)

But , I know my place Grin
On the end of a food bowl, a litter scoop and cuddle duty should they wish .

When they arrive , I will start their thread .

What a relief to see that I'm not alone in my cat lady behaviour.

One of my favourites is to address my boy as if I am a butler or concierge in a five star hotel: "oh dear, I do apologise sir. I will ensure this does not happen again!" (This when he yowled at he repeatedly for not scooping his poop out of the kitty litter immediately it cleared his bottom)

I also like: "what needs do you have that are not being met right now?" When he gets up in my face with his loud miaowing.

I used to be "not a cat person" until this little tyrant cane into my life!

boringlyboring · 19/05/2019 18:23

My nan doesn’t know any of her neighbours, but she knows the neighbourhood cats. A lot of black cats visit her, and her own are black so she never knows which one is napping in her bed.

Even I get confused when I’m there
