Lucky escape

My cat went missing yesterday morning which is totally out of character. He is a Bengal but very stranger phobic and only interacts with me and DH. He literally panics if anyone tries to approach him.
After spending most of today in tears in front of random dog walkers, neighbours, anyone who might have seen him, he is found in the spare room of a close-ish neighbour hiding silently under a dresser. He was there a day and a half! They only discovered him because he knocked something over.
I am an absolute wreck.
Has anyone else had this happen? I can't believe he would be that bloody nosy when he practically faints if someone he doesn't know tries to stroke him.
Any lucky escape stories welcome as it's all feeling a bit surreal atm...

My very timid Persian house cat got out once. She had no form for escape. But I did not realise and went out for 6 hours. Wasn't till later I realised she was missing. I was frantic looking for her. Fortunately my neighbour said he's seen a black cat about 3 hours earlier, hiding behind the bins. Fortunately she was still there! I think I aged by about 20 years!

I'm hoping it teaches him a lesson but he's very dim....another quirky behaviour to add to a growing list.

I see your 2 days and raise you 2 weeks.

Yep I had a cat go missing, no one had seen her, pics and posters up etc.

Then one evening I heard a miaow and there she was, hungry but otherwise unharmed.

sashh - worst nightmare! Any idea what happened to her? Two weeks would kill me.

No idea what happened, I assume she got locked in somewhere with water and maybe some food.

My current cat I always expect to go missing as she likes to 'inspect' delivery vans.

I always warn the tesco delivery drivers, apparently they have a 'ccat on delivery van' protocol they follow.

He was so traumatised when we got him home Sad very nervy and clingy. Slowly starting to come back to himself now and his brother has barely left his side.
Some of my fringe has gone extremely grey in the last couple of days which is bizarre and quite funny as I now have a white streak! Pure worry I think Grin

A relative's cat went missing for a whole month once. We were frantic, especially as it was winter & he had epilepsy. He was found wandering about a mile away across the marsh, we reckon he had a fit & got confused as to where he was.

One of mine went missing for several days and we put up cards in local shops etc. Someone who lived a couple of miles away rang to say that there was a cat sitting in their pear tree in their garden and would we like to go and see if it was ours.

Yep. It was Grin

horizontalis · 17/05/2019 15:54

The cat obviously, not the pear tree.

Couple of miles is quite impressive! We've also learnt how far our 2 like to roam - much further than we thought including down to the local pub Confused
I thought they'd just stay in the garden. Wrong!
