I was due to adopt my sisters kitty a couple of weeks ago, Mowgli, and on the day we had decided I would take him, he was ran over & killed. So bloody sad and such bad timing. RIP Mowgli.

I decided to visit a couple of rescues and fell in love with these 2 the moment I saw them, they were all all over me, paws on shoulders, kisses & headbutts.

Meet Ginger & Bobby. They are adorable, I don't think I've ever met 2 more loving cats. Cuddles on my knee, following me round, running down to say hello when I get back from work. Come to bed with me.
Ginger is defo the more confident of the 2, Bobs is still a bit skitty but coming round.

I'm obsessed!!

I was a dog owner until Nov last year so any tips on food, toys, eventually letting them out, etc?

Oh my!! Congratulations

Mine likes metal Christmas tree baubles with bells inside. Also scratch posts and she loves chasing a little led light that we shine on the floor. Occasionally she likes the ball dangled from a string but this is hit and miss.
Congratulations on your new arrivals. They're beautiful.

StrawberryFizz26 · 02/05/2019 07:34

Thank you!! I think they are bloody beautiful as well Smile

I've got 2 scratch posts, a telescope toy, about 10 balls/mice/fish things, tissue grass mats off Ebay. They are very spoilt already.

What's best to get rid of cat hair? It's everywhere. Ginger is a right fluffyhead

Lovely, simply lovely! Enjoy the little purring furr balls.

Shmithecat2 · 02/05/2019 07:41

They are beauts! I especially love a floofy ginger 😍. Food wise, I prefer dry food such as Royal Canin, with a wet pouch here and there as a treat. Do you have a decent scratch post? Cheap litter is a waste of money. My lot (I have 5) aren't massively bothered about toys, they prefer hair bands, bottle tops and kids little bouncy balls. Pet plan isn't the cheapest insurance, but is the best IME.

I've never subscribed to keeping cats inside for very long. Once they're eating and using the loo, I start letting them out. But let then out when they're hungry and leave a door open. Rustle a packet of treats to get them back in. Once they've come back by themselves, you're good to go. Enjoy!

Regular brushing and a miele cat and dog c3 vacuum cleaner... washing up gloves drag hair off soft furnishings really well too.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 02/05/2019 07:49

I was going to ask which one was which and then realised one was called Ginger 😂

We have a special pet hair comb for our two - it's worth its weight in gold as it gets down into the undercoat. Terrifying how much hair comes out during grooming when they're shedding!

Lellochip · 02/05/2019 07:58

Bobby has thumbs! 😍

Gorgeous boys, sounds like they adopted you!

somewheresorted · 02/05/2019 08:01

They are both absolutely gorgeous!!!

MarthasGinYard · 02/05/2019 08:02

Op they are gorgeous

Invest in a furminator for fluffy ginger. You won't look back they are bloody amazing.

MarthasGinYard · 02/05/2019 08:05

We had to keep rescue boy in for 10 weeks but he mainly loo's outside now.

We do keep a litter tray in though it's rarely used. We get the huge bags of the wooden pellet litter from B&M it's fab.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 02/05/2019 08:46

OP you have two absolutely gorgeous cats Grin.
Love Bobby's feet. Presume he's polydactyl?
Regarding cat hair - I'm afraid we've just learned to live with it.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/05/2019 09:13

He's got thumbs!! I'd love a cat wit thumbs.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/05/2019 09:15

Tesco are very good for insurance. Zoom grooms are good for short haired cats and I also use mine to gather up the stray hair.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/05/2019 10:35

Whick one is the brains behind the outfit? My bet is on Ginger...

Olinguito · 02/05/2019 10:53

They're gorgeous! Those sticky lint roller things are good for getting fur off your clothes.

StrawberryFizz26 · 02/05/2019 19:16

Thanks everyone!

Bobs is indeed porydaxtal. I'd never even heard if it.
I'll try the b&m litter and will be looking at a furminator.
They defo adopted me & I'm very, very happy about it 😍

yet
Yes, Ginger is the brain's but I think Bobby has got it in him to be a bugger as well.

I've got to keep them in for 6 weeks then I'm going to let them in the garden & see how they get on.

MikeUniformMike · 02/05/2019 20:36

I was going to ask which one's which but someone beat me to it. Grin
They are beautiful.

Drogonssmile · 02/05/2019 20:41

Oh what handsome boys 😍

loveonthewall · 02/05/2019 20:45

You lucky, lucky slave 😍

agnurse · 03/05/2019 00:15

They good boys!

Polydactyly is rather common in cats, particularly Maine coons. My mother had done some reading as we had a polydactyl cat once (seven toes on each front paw and about six on each back paw; she looked as if she had little mitts!). Mum learned that polydactyl cats were uncommon in Europe as people thought they were associated with witchcraft and often destroyed them. Sailors thought them lucky and brought them to the New World on ships. Of course when they docked the cats took off. I suspect one of these was probably an ancestor of the Maine coon breed.

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 03/05/2019 00:24

They are absolutely beautiful, you lucky lucky cat slave, the joy pets bring to our lives is immeasurable! Sorry to hear about Mowgli poor little thing.
