Can we let him out?

We've got a cat who's turned turned one, he's always been an indoor cat but we have a harness and do go outside with him on it.

We moved house 6 weeks ago, he's been walked around all sides of the house and spent time in the garden. Last week he jumped out of the window and we had to chase him around the estate, this morning we've come down and he's knocked something off the windowsill onto the glass tv unit and it's smashed.

DH adamant he has to go outside to let his energy out, Me and DD are worried he'll never come back.

Some cats are very happy as indoor cats....but I think they need to have never known outdoors.

Ours have always been outdoor. They came from houses where they were in and out as kittens. We couldn’t have kept them inside if we’d tried. Friend’s cats always lived in flats and have never tried to get out. Ours were hanging off the door handles.

Let him out, microchipped, hungry the first time, no collar (they get trapped on things, you could try quick release...but you’ll lose a lot of collars).
