On holiday worrying like crazy!

Hope some of you might talk me down! We're away for six days - and put DC in a cattery for the very first time. He is only 6 months old and never been away from home at all since we got him at 9 weeks.

The cattery is lovely and comes highly recommended. DC has an indoor pod and a cat flap to an outdoor area. He's a Bengal cross... very lively, very playful and does tend to love being outside (at home we still have him on a harness when we go in the garden or follow him and stand on the lead if he gets too adventurous just yet - he's incredibly curious and we have a large garden, so are trying to contain him as much as possible at the moment as he does get freaked by noises etc sometimes)

Anyway - the cattery has CCTV in every pod so you can use an app to look at your cat at any time, day or night! This is a VERY mixed blessing it seems, as we now end up checking far too often! First night he was fine, bit bemused but stayed in his pod all night.

However, after another day of growing confidence yesterday he has now decided, it seems, to live full-time in the outside area. He wasn't inside where we could see him (no cameras in outside area) all evening. We eventually went to bed - but my partner and I checked each time we woke up (often as now worried) and he spent the whole night (and the morning so far it seems) outside!! Is he going to be okay staying out all night? I'm worried he might get cold. He's probably just very excited to be out at night for the first time - but we have become very anxious first time parents! I don't want to contact the cattery unless necessary though as I don't want to be 'that' cat parent!!

Oh bless you both. A Bengal is naturally explorative and high energy (as you know) so he's probably just loving it out there. I assume it's an enclosed outdoor space so don't worry, he's probably found a high spot he likes and chilling out. They're one of the smartest breeds, he'd come in if he were uncomfortable or cold. Enjoy your holiday!

PS cute pics essential!!

Thank you so much... that's what we needed to hear. We keep telling ourselves that too, but it's so good to have it reinforced! I promise we're not normally mad!! We'll go out and relax now!

oh my goodness, I first put my kitten in a cattery at 6 months old & they spoiled her rotten!

Every year she returned a couple of times a year & settled in the minute she got there, happy as Larry, swinging on the door & having cuddles with the staff - I think it's because it was a familiar place from having visited as a kitten

My cattery posts pictures on Facebook and I agree it's a mixed blessing as my-very shy cat always looked miserable. But it's lovely to see pics of them now they are more confident. I have a lovely picture of cheddar having a cat nip party. Something she'd not get at home!

The last time I took them I have never seen Magic so confident. She was up and down the corridor between the pens, and in and out if the cat flap. They spoil her rotten

Second the poster who said if he was uncomfortable, he would take himself back in. He's probably having the time of his life Grin Might be an idea to limit your cat porn webcam viewing and set an alarm on your phone or something.

Thank you all so much... feeling much better now! And they texted me this morning anyway to say he was gorgeous and settled and yes, loving the outside run!

I am indeed trying to limit my viewing now I know he's fine... But I just checked and he is in fact in the pod now, totally out for the count, probably because he was up all night!! He's such a little pickle... but we do love his pickling ways!

Magic is never pleased to see me when I pick her up!
